    Dangerous dog ITV @9PM

Is anyone else watching or did watch Dangerous dogs On ITV on Thursday 20/03/14,
Its very upsetting seeing how skinny the Rhodesian Ridgebacks were & the American Bull dog, also that poor Akita left on its own for over week, the amount of poo behind the door, its always amazes me why people pay all this money out for a dog only to neglect it by letting it starve to death.

    Edit: Watch here: https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/dangerous-dogs/series-1/episode-1

There was no need for that idiot's language (white staffy owner) when you take any dog walkies you clean up after them, all my jeans, hoodies, coats have dog poo bags in their pockets.

I didn't watch it, I tend to avoid such programmes, I get told off for shouting at the telly.

I been shouting at the telly too, as I get very angry at the so called owners.

I'm not watching because I mean, what exactly does a show like this prove? We know idiot owners are to blame, but yet very rarely are they ever punished anyway. I can't see this changing anything. When the next dog attack happens the dogs will still be penalised. I hear enough stories of idiots owning dogs without having to watch it on TV.

Has there been much emphasis on irresponsible owners being at fault?

The preview I saw was terrible handling from two dog wardens who practically strangle the life out of and shout hysterically at an Akita, who looked to me to be clearly terrified, rather then acting aggressive in any way.

I think I'm like Trouble...I'd be yelling at the TV to much!

Yes Louise, the whole emphasis was on poor owners ill treating dogs.
One man who didn't seem to with it at all (drunk?) had a litter of 10 puppies in a tiny squalid flat.
They looked about 4 weeks and he was selling them in the pub at £50 each .
Another batch of problem dogs in the making :(.

This programme was so depressing - the docked ginger starvation case that was so loving despite its pathetic appearance. The little Shih Tzu with its nasty wounds and such an uncaring neighbour. I had tears of frustration as there are no answers to this problem. A catalogue of lives without meaning - both human and canine.

They are useless!!!!! They almost strangled that Akita! And I am not surprised the Ridgeback was scared - with the intimidating cameras. A little patience goes a long way with fearful dogs.

I don't know what's more infuriating, that the dogs were left in those states or the clueless 'wardens'.

Gives me an idea for a thread actually

I realise these programs are edited to give maximum Sensationalism but found it ‘Absolutely outrageous that a dog warden doesn't know better than to shout and screech when trying to handle a dog which is obviously terrified' an idiot who shouldn't be in the job’ it was one of the worst examples of dog handling I've ever seen she was obviously scared .I don't like the catch pole but sometimes they are necessary , especially when the dog is either very frightened or aggressive but not to the extent that the dog was in a state of collapse.

2 starving dogs so it makes sense to feed them from the same bowl then be surprised when they fight! Programme is full of morons

The guy with the litter of pups was clearly on some kind of medication or other substance, just can't even begin to express my sadness at what was going on there.

I could go on but blood pressure is at boiling point.

Have emailed ITV asking to them to rename the show from Dangerous Dogs to "Idiot Owner's", "Dangerous Owners" or how about "Dog Wardens Don't Know What They Are Doing" have an standard email back thanking me for email which will be passed on to the relevant department.

    NDWA RESPONSE TO `DANGEROUS DOGS` - ITV THURSDAY 20TH MARCH 2014
    Fri, 21 Mar 2014 http://www.ndwa.co.uk/dogwarden-news-events/news/?news-id=101

apparently the warden has previously been hospitalised after being attacked by a SBT. which might explain why she was scared but its no excuse for her behaviour,.

Totally agree tho. It's very worrying thinking Dog Wardens are that bad.

Doesn't excuse her attitude tbh, being wary of all dogs is fine (because any dog can bite) but singling out breeds is not. One thing I am glad of is how the AB totally proved her wrong - what a lovely dog he was.

Last night was Heartbreaking, BSL sucks and a nation of animal lovers I think not! why on earth does it take 20 police officers to investigate a registered dogs insurance ,when your lucky if you see one, if you report a theft, sadly I don’t see things changing anytime soon.
