The majority of us are in the UK and pitbulls are banned here. There are a few owners on the site from US though.

LOVE pits <3 wish they were legal here! I go to lots of protests to get rid of BSL so hopefully one day there will be no doggy racism and I could have my own pitty one day <3

I love Pitties, though as others have stated they have been banned in the UK for a couple of decades now. I have friends in the US who have adopted Pits, and one who works with a Pit Bull Rescue, particularly actively trying to rehome dogs from high-kill shelters.

Speaking as someone who was attacked by a Pit Bull in the late 80s when I was 11 years old I am still a firm believer that the Dangerous Dogs Act is a joke. What we need is greater welfare protection for dogs which might be abused, poorly socialised and looked after, or encouraged to show aggressive behaviour. We don't need specific breeds being singled out and demonised on the basis of poor public awareness and sensationalised twaddle by the media. I know more people who have been bitten by Labradors, Yorkies and JRTs than any "type" generally considered by the ill-informed masses as "dangerous."
