i just bought a dobermann puppy on the kennel club papers that have come back though the name KENMILLIX has been put in front of the name that the breeder told me the dog was not being able to call them and ask at 2.55 am i wondered if anyone else has an explanation i know the sire and the dam to be both pure bred dobermans i hope eRaze Admin thanks me for the way i posted the question...
You also only get a certain number of letters so if you called your dog ONETWOTHREEFOUR when they add Kenmillix to it they will have to remove some from the end so you might only get ONETWOTHREEFO Does that make sense??
Morgan's sire is called Kenmillto and i came across another breeder with the same name and he told me the same that its when the kennel club are asked to name the dogs that are being registered. Seams a lazy way to me why a person would breed a litter and not bother to apply for an affix or kennel name as they are calling it now. Morgan's breeder has no idea that he is being shown and doing reasonably well having moved and not left a forwarding address.
Murphys name is Kenmillto Backgammon, the reason I think that some breeders do not apply for an affix is the cost and the procedure. There is a fee to register it, you then have to pay an annual fee on top of that. I think...although I could be wrong because this is just a distant memory...that you also need references to register an affix, perhaps that has changed now??????? It makes it a lot of hassle for someone who is only intending to breed one or two litters
yes its £70 to register it and £15 a year £12 if its direct debit i have just received mine. There are no references required but there may have been years ago. Morgan's father was kenmillto conrad i wonder if they use the alphabetical system that breeders use so they know what order the litter came and who its litter mates were. Its defiantly worth having one even for one litter as not only does it look better but you can follow its progress if its shown.
well thats a new thing to me. our old girl was princess bianca i named her. but she didn't have any type of affix in her name given by the kc. so basically its a kc affix they use on dogs with no affix from a breeder.
Well I feel like a right numpty I always assumed Kenmillto was my goldens kennel affix, but just now discovered the true meaning of it.. you learn something new everyday !
Partially correct They add their own affix if they have to name the litter (as mentioned above) and also where the breeder has only given a one word name (eg Conrad - again as above). Under the regulations for the naming of litters, the names have to be more than one word long
Kentene - 80 Kenwunn - 81 Kentoo - 82 Kenee - 83 Kenour - 84 Kenive - -85 Kensix - 86 Keneven - 87 Kenine - 89 Kenkew - 90 Kenar - 91 Keness - 92 Kentee - 93 Kenue - 94 Kenvee - 95 Kenwu - 96 Kenex - 97 Kenyee - 98 Kenzed - 99 Kenmillen - 00 Kenmillone - 01 Kenmillto - 02 Kenmilltri - 03 not sure about recent ones
Ah that was Bonnies name and I always wondered what it meant! Thanks for that, that's been puzzling me for 22 years!
Tiggers posh name is Kenmillix Lactarious! LOL Apparently the breeders couldn't be bothered thinking up names for their pups so let the Kennel Club name them? Thats what I was told anyway. I prefer Tigger myself. ;-)
yeah our dogs, first part of his name is kenmillix and the breeder told me she was letting the kennel club choose the litters names
So really you need to avoid breeders who can't even be bothered to name their puppies!, could be they breed far too many. They certainly cant have the breed at heart if they arent proud enough to have an affix. I wonder what mine is :smt002 Becky
Hi, just been reading through some older posts and came across this thread. My girl has a kennel name that we chose, but the stud owner has a dog with the kennel name kenmillix...I am assuming that the breeder couldnt be bothered to name the pups. We may or may not breed her but if we do the pups will have our name and the names we choose for them.
Just thought I would like to point out there used to be an affix in GSDs not sure if it is still current called KENMIL they were based in Essex. This was a registered affix by a Dr. & Mrs Sames.
err, not quite the case Mahooli, my breeder is fab and imo much better than some breeders who have an affix, just because she hasnt got an affix doesnt make her a bad breeder. I did tons of research before I got my pup, and made friends wiht my breeder before pup arrived (which took 2.5 yrs waiting on my part, so that is not breeding too many is it?). I rang the Kennel Club to find out what my dogs name means and as explained it is; Ken - for kennel club Mill - for the millennium and Tri - for the 3rd year (2003) hope this helps ;-)
