I'm Sorry Apache. Kodi is looking good!
You have made my day. I was told a few years ago, that somebody believed my Jeager was from Druidswood lines!...So i researched as much as i could. Found out that Madeleine Pickup had died, but found a lady in wales, who took Madeleine's last Bitch. She brought her home, from the funeral. I sent Gail at concen GSD's pictures of Jeager.
She Also said that he was " Very likely, to be a Druidswood, they have a very particular look about them!". She said he was a fine looking Dog. I kept in contact, and asked if she ever had to rehome one...Would she please let me know.
She never had a Druidswood, but a lady had asked her if she knew anybody who could take Rhodi, and give him a good home. The rest is History!!
He may not be a Druidswood...But i Love him to bits.

Yes, you are spot on, he does indeed have a centre parting down his back. When he trots you can see his coat ripple and his fur is very soft. So much so that any ladies passing by, always ask if they can pet him. He seems irresistible to them, and i don't mind a bit :)

Jeagibear, what a great story. Do you have Rhodi's pedigree?

I have Madeleine Pickup's book ... "All about the German Shepherd Dog", ... I bought it in 1973. Here is a photo of Int. Ch. Druidswood Consort, you can see the likeness.

By the way Apache. The lady who had the last of the Druidswood line, and was Great friends with Madelein Pickup, is Gail Gwesyn-Price, and she runs Mid Wales Dog Training. Loads more pictures and info, on Druidswood.
PPS. Thanks for the chance to show these gorgeous pictures.

I think Jeager was very much like Consort rather than these last two. Great pics though. I looked on the pedigree database for a Consort photo and found nothing there either so I added the one I posted here. I think it's nice to look back at a dogs pedigree to see all those who came before :?

Thanks for the heads up Apache about looking back through pictures on my pedigree to see all those who came before. Some of Zena's are really stunning dogs, mostly working line, german bred, especially the Sch 3's with the FH IP 3's, WDX and TDX's, cos I really didn't know what all of that was, but I'm going to check it all out. Of course I know what the Sch3 is, but not the others. It's interesting to see the similarity in some of their faces, that aloof look of sheer determination, which I often see with Zena when that ball is on the ground in front of her lol! Oh this dog is sooooooo wasted on me, but what the heck, her entire day is filled with those little jobs to do, they're just not as serious as they should be:lol:

Great that you have browsed through Zena's ancestors, i find it fascinating to look at Kodi's pedigree photos and try to pick out similarities. Have you placed Zena's photo on the database yet?
Kodi is here, with his ancestors, again mostly working line, pictured below his photo:
    http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=1827157-winter-toy-story

Yes, the abbreviations take some figuring out dont they?
Here is a link with most of the terms explained.
    http://www.gsscc.ca/schutzhund/glossary-of-terms.aspx

You made me laugh about Zena being wasted on you. She is your companion so not wasted at all. I view Kodi in the same way, he is not a pet, he is my companion :)
I also feel i could do a lot more with him. Have you tried tracking with Zena. Kodi really loves it. I just lay a trail in the forest then tell him search and off he goes, lots of fun.

Hi Apache, and how interesting is that! Now I know, you never stop learning on here:grin: I wondered why there were missing pictures, so that means there are people like me who just didn't know or hadn't thought about posting any up, so I will make sure I find a good picture of Zena and post one up.

Yes, Zena would love the trials, but again, the problem is me, not having the time of late etc. etc. etc. BUT, her favourite occupation is to find. She loves the game where I make her sit and wait in the hallway, I go off in the garden, hide a tiny dried spratt or fish square, and when I realise her, she goes absolutely nuts setting off to find it, tail high up in the air, she's a superstar at this, cos it only takes seconds for her to find anything I hide no matter how difficult the hiding place. She even finds other dog's balls lost in the long grass if I tell her to "find it" She would never lose her own of course;-) You would know that from Kodi:lol: I've never actually laid a trail, so I might have a play around with that in the woods next time. Do I drag the ball along the ground or something before hiding it:017:

   Yes H, you have to put the photos on there yourself, but must register first. If you find any missing photos of other dogs in her pedigree you can post those too. I have done quite a few now, including Druidswood Consort for Jeagibear.

Zena sounds like a natural tracker.

Right, its easier with a friend to help but is possible on your own. Find an old article of clothing such as a glove or sock, hold it to Zena's nose so she gets a good scent. Then as you commence your walk (in a quiet area) and hopefully she isn't watching, lay the sock down behind a tree with a biscuit in it. Use a smelly biscuit like fish sticks or similar.

Then having hidden the sock, drop a small piece of the same type of biscuit, every 30 metres or so, but make sure she doesn't notice you doing it. Make the total distance about 300/400 metres and keep in a fairly straight line till she gets the idea, then you can vary it a bit. When you get to the end, turn her round, attach a long training lead and say "find it" and off you go. Just watch her sniffing the air and ground to find the scent. When she finds the sock give her a special treat and make a fuss of her.

Here is a video of Kodi's grandad, Vongalanberg Kai, on a training track, so you will see what i mean, see how he picks up the footstep scent until he finds a biscuit. He came 7th in the world last year in Austria so is quite good at it. ;-)

Was very interested to see the 'look' of the black dog on the first piccie as I have always thought Lona looked a lot like the early Alsatian, which is the look I adored and one reason why I got so into Utonagan as they are so very reminiscent of the old type of dog, a leg at each corner, straight backed and properly set up at the back. A few years ago I came across a piccie of a black Alsatian from the early days, may well be the same one, here is a piccie of Lona taken yesterday

    Very interesting comparison:lol:

Oh FAB! He's very sloooooow though isn't he:shock: Zena would have done that at 90mph, gone straight to the Bonio or whatever it was at the end, and only then would she have bothered to backtrack to collect all the biscuits she missed on the way there LOL! I know that to be a fact, cos that is how she goes over my hidden treats. I'm assuming, she must just follow MY footsteps to place them or something cos she sure does get them darn quick. I'd better forget the idea of her ever being a tracking dog then Apache, especially on the end of a long line, but then again, I have seen policemen being dragged through the undergrowth at 90mph lol, that'd be Zena:lol:

When I walk with Dave at the week-end, I'm going to take some biscuits and some little fish squares, not forgetting a sock, and do a bit of this with her and I'll let you know how we got on (or not!) then.

Just looked through your pedigree, beautiful pic of your Kodi you've put up there:007: and loving the Sire:007: :007: I have a picture of my old Cassie somewhere and you wouldn't know the difference! Sadly, I don't have her pedigree, but her Sire was an operational explosive search dog,but she was the spitten imagine of Kodi's Sire. I don't know whether you would have seen my Cass, cos we lost her many years ago before old Georgie? I have a similar pic in PB I'll go and find it cos the marking and fur are identical. There are a lot of all blacks in his line aren't there looking back at the photo's, could account for his beautiful black markings on his head. Zena's going lighter, but then that's her summer coat, winter coat she gets a much darker face.

Coat was a bit messy that day, but when groomed, it was quite incredible! She spent too much time up at those mucky old stables with me to keep her looking her best:lol:
