Sorry, didn't make it clear! The KC will now accept applications for re-registration of WSDs by you submitting a good reason why they should be entered onto the breed register (as opposed to the activities register), having the dog examined by two breed judges (and judged as being a good example of the breed) and paying £100! Gem's mum has been through the process successfully and so all her progeny will automatically be eligible for re-registration. I applied in May but hadn't heard anything so emailed yesterday and got a response by return! Certificate in the post. I just need to advise all the show secretaries of the agility shows I've entered now.......
Well years ago you had to produce a pedigree that had a minimum of registered dogs on it(can't remember how many)the dog had to be assessed by 2 championship show judges of the breed who had to agree that the dog was typical of the breed. ISDS dogs can be registered on merit, but they have to have a full pedigree going back to registered dogs as well as passing the working test I presume the mother was mated to a BC(either KC or ISDS)for her progeny to be BC, if she was bred to a WSD the puppies would be WSD
I registered a GSD for a friend this way back in 1960s & had to supply the pedigree for the dog & also arrange for 2 GSD Ch Show judges to assess him. He had a full pedigree except for 2 dogs whose litters had not been registered & as both they & their breeders/owners were dead they could not be registered & their offspring registered. If their breeders/owners had been alive the dogs could have been registered posthumously, which is what I did for another friend. Have you personal experience of the old scheme ? There is no record online about it sadly. I do have old year books somewhere that included the regs but I'm not dragging myself up into my loft to find them
I know there is a new protocol for this, brought out by the KC in the last year or so, but can't find reference to it on the site. 3 Championship judges, plus DNA record of the dog, and £100 if my memory serves me right - that's for any breed. The dog would be registered but probably with a notation (maybe like the asterisks that appear after the names from a Belgian Shepherd intervariety mating) and of course sire & dam are recorded as unknown. If I can ever find the full data, I'll post a link. In theory - I could do this with my rescue Malinois. The judges are not judging as to adherence to the standard, just agreeing that the dog is the breed it's claimed to be. In her case there is no point as she is spayed and not of show quality anyway, but I could pursue it if I wished.
Only what we were told to do by the KC, and it didn't include any pedigree. Just the judges to check the dog was that breed. Maybe yours just happened to have a background that was known. Funnily ours was also a GSD. rune
One of my Belgian Shepherds is from an intervariety mating. He is registered with both the Irish and UK Kennel Clubs. He has no asterix after his name?
When the resulting pups of the intervariety are born, which type will they be registered under....... I assume it would be the dam :?
Thank you! It won't make any difference to either Gem or me but I know her breeder's really happy about it!
The pups are registered as the variety that they are. My boy Callan is a groenendael. His father is a Tervueren. Callan's whole litter were Groenendael. His sister has just had a litter of pups. There was one Tervueren pup and the rest Groenendael.
