I would suggest getting yourself to some dog shows, looking at the breeds that take your fancy and speaking to as many people as you can (breeders and non-breeders with good knowledge of their breed). It will take time to find the ideal breed and breeder, especially if you want to consider breeding in the future, so have some patience and do your homework :)

Thank you. I'll have a look at the LPS when I go.

You might also want to do your research on other areas of dog ownership if you're considering breeding. For example, I see that you have some behavioural issues with your male JRT that you're dealing with - so studying dog behaviour (not necessarily through an official course, but reading various articles, websites, books, etc) may help with him as well as preparing you for the hard work of raising a litter in the best way (to prevent them having social issues, for example).
Also I notice that your dogs are fed on Pedigree wet food - this really isn't considered to be that great a food so perhaps some reading on the ideal diet for dogs would be a good idea, it's especially vital to provide a growing litter with an adequate diet to meet all their needs and give them the best start at having a healthy future.
Please don't take it as criticism, but just some pointers on things to look into before you consider breeding a dog.

Hello, thanks for posting. I'm sure I would do loads of research when considering breeding closer to the date, for instance in a few years (if I got my pedigree puppy this year -fingers crossed).

I've already bred one litter of golden retrievers but of course I would not take this for automatically being able to handle a kc registered breed.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure I would breed unless I had a rare breed.

You bred a litter of golden retrievers?

Were these not KC registered? :017:

Golden Retrievers are a KC registered breed.

Why would you breed if you had a rare breed?

I think of it like pandas. If I had a panda and could def have her successfully mated then I would.

    To further the breed?

I was a child but still helped raise them.

But now I'm more responsible and etc. I love dogs.

    Ah I see.

So you did not ACTUALLY breed a litter of Golden Retrievers.

That makes more sense than your previous post.

Have you asked yourself why rare breeds are rare?

It is usually because nobody wants them. ;)

If demand was there, then a breed would not be rare..........

So if nobody wants them, why would you breed a litter that had no homes to go to?

I wouldn't advise getting another terrier breed. As I gather from reading one of the previous posts, you have a few issues with your male JRT and all terriers can be fiesty. How about a more docile breed such as Cavalier King Charles.
You have an awful lot of research to do if you still haven't chosen your breed, but are hoping to show and breed with whatever dog you get, which you say will hopefully be this year.
Good luck and I hope you find your 'dream' dog. Keep us informed.:)

Thanks Jeremy. I dunno. I've always imagined the KCS to be for really really posh people lol

Hi, No CKCS are not for posh people as you call them    They are really sweet little dogs and many people liken them to having similar temperaments to Golden Retrievers. I'm just a little concerned that introducing another terrier could upset the status-quo in your household!

CKCS are great little dogs but please if you are going to consider getting one only go to a reputable breeder who has done the appropriate health testing and can show you the records. This breed is a victim of poor breeding practices and have a lot of potential health issues some of which are not covered by insurance policies and which can be extremely expensive. It's worth waiting for a really dedicated breeder if you're going for this breed otherwise you could end up with a lot of heartache.
