Also... I'd like to know if you use height or weight as the measure?

Having a Tibetan Mastiff has skewed my perception. To me, he's not that big, but people in the street stare at him and insist on telling me that he's a big dog.

People tell me Axel is big all the time - but to me Greyhounds are medium as to me it's based on height and weight combined. A Deerhound or Borzoi would be large or a Great Dane obviously, but then they're probably Giant...

Well we have two Newfoundlands and I think they are definately classed as large :!: Two hundred years ago a team of six could haul 300 ft. trees to the saw mills of Canada so they are also very strong.

I'm not sure about Labradors, my recollection of our dear Lab of many moons ago was that she was medium.

I would say a lab is medium, large to me would be Doberman size, but you have to remember weight too because basset hounds are classed as large i think? And their only small in height but weigh upto 35kg. (I only know this because a woman had one at training)

Great Danes, Bernese, newfies I would class as giant?

After living with Luke, all dogs seem small to me now lol. I guess large to ME would be an English mastiff, an Irish Wolfhound.

Yes I know lol but when you live with a dog who's as big as Luke, it's hard to see other dogs that you used to find huge, as large lol

Case in point...I used to find Rotties HUGE. Now they're not even in the BIG category. I don't even see Luke as big until I see him next to another dog. It really clicked in when I took him to the Great Dane meetup and saw him next to the other males who were older than him. Then I was like "holy crap I'm living with a monster!"LOL

I personally class boxer's as large. I have a medium size dog and boxers are a lot larger than him.

Bernese are classed as large not giant.

Giant I tend of think of Great Dane. Irish Wolfhound. English Mastiff. That sort of size.

Given the size difference you can get in Boxers (male/female etc) I would class them as either Med or Lrg....

The boys' mum is tiny - less than 22inches at the shoulder and only just scraping about 25kg.

Max is 26inches and Murphy weighs 38kg.....
