    Ringhaus GSD's

Anyone know anything about this breeder/the dogs?

    Here is the site..
    http://www.ringhausgsd.co.uk/index.html

I can't find anything about health testing... but they seem the type that would from their site... unless I am missing it?

    Anyway - thoughts/experiences?

I don't know them either, but you could always email them for details if you were interested?

They appear to use dogs/bitches in their lines from some well-known and well-respected show kennels and so you would expect them to do all relevant health tests - but always better to be sure and ask, and then also ask to see the paperwork if you do decide to go for a pup.

Also, I am sure you don't need to be told ;-) , but don't be tempted by a breeder simply by the location ... but I am sure you wouldn't anyway. And, of course, it is much easier to be able to visit the mother and pups if the breeder is nearby

    Thanks! :)

Yeah, that's okay I don't mind people telling me things!

But I wouldn't anyway lol, of course being close helps, but I wouldn't pick a breeder purely on location :p
More just shocked there is (what seems to be) 2 good breeders less than 2 hours from me. So I will email them just to ask.

Yeah it does make it easier to go and visit before hand if they are closer!

Well I am off to Heather's a week on Sunday, so will let you know how I get on, and take lots of pics :) Thankfully though there won't be a litter on the ground, so no temptation for me ;-)

    Yeah do that! :D

I think for now that Conbhairean is still my kennels of choice, as I know about the first hand experiences people have had with her and her dogs :)

But always nice to have a "back up", or even just a second place to visit! :)

I have chatted to a few people with dogs from this breeder, and they are all very happy.

Check out Bru - my friend has him, and he is gorgeous! :049:

Another friend has Zak and Zeus - and being a longcoat lover I am completely in love with Zeus :049:

Just had a look on the Lydsurach site and there are no pics of Zak and Zeus, so I have asked Margaret (their owner) to join us on Dogsey and share photos of her two beautiful boys :)

Do you have an order of preference or are you going to try and meet as many as possible?

I can't remember whether you said you were wanting to show or not?

Have you decided on a male/female yet or are you going to wait until nearer the time?

Conbhairean is my first of choice so far, but I am also liking this kennel (provided they do the health tests etc).

Plan to visit both and see how I feel then!

Not really interested in showing tbh :)

I "think" I would prefer a short coated male.... BUT if the perfect dog for me was a long coated female then that is fine too! I more have "preferences" as opposed to what I WANT, if that makes sense? :)

I do know what you mean - and personally think it is a good idea to keep an open mind, especially when it is your first GSD.

Take a look at my intro thread. Pics of my Conbhairean boy there. He's a litter mate of dunja and dano on the youngster section. I would definitely recommend Heather!!! Dino has been absolutely perfect. Not scared of a single thing. He did his socialising himself! Very intelligent. You will need to get in early for one of her dogs

Absolutely loving some of these Shepherds, especially Lydsurach's website. Rather like the look of the Conadrew Kennel too, but sadly they don't seem too hot on the health testing front?

    in what way?

have you checked with SV if a dog is 100% german then it can be registered there and hips/elbows done there

Checking on the KC website hips seem to be scored and that's it. Most of their breeding stock are home bred and don't appear to be campaigned abroad so I assumed there would be no desire to use another registries/countries health testing scheme?

Is there another way to check?

You'd think if people did all the health testing they'd sing it from the roof tops, but there's nothing noted on the website???
