the dogs are playing with a non sighthound type, their running at a pace the other dog can keep up with, lull the dog into false pretence, then shoot off at top speed, leaving said dog dazed and confused , do yours do this? Its mainly Honey who does, Diesel don't have the brains, and although you feel a bit sorry for the other dog, it is funny, and most the time the poor other dog then wears themself out trying to catch up again.
Lol, yes I remember Mo doing this and I remember how quickly she could corner, often skidding around on her side. It was only the little dogs, like JRTs, that could keep up. How she would have loved Pepsi :-(
Honey's main victim is a working type terrier, luckily he's the type of dog that even at their worst doesn't get scared by the hounds, so poor boy takes a few knocks every now and then, or the mick taken out of him, but always comes back for more .
Bless Mo, I loved seeing her pics and hearing bout her, little terriers rule though, their one of the dogs that always seem to stick around no matter what , its such a shame that Mo and Pepsi never got the chance to meet, but great that they've both got great homes.
Thanks, I still miss her more than I ever thought would be possible :-( Pepsi is a Rottweiler in a JR skin, nothing frightens or fazes her
Jack Russels are like torandos, you better get out their way, as they wont get out of yours, and their likely to cause damage along their way I never had the chance to meet Mo, but she seemed like a specal dog, its no surprise you still miss her, I remember reading something that sums up dogs, it went along the lines of, 'the only fault that a dog possess is that they live too short, but if a dog lived to fifty years, and then died what would become of me?'
It's really funny isn't it?! Poor little Coco with her little legs tries her best to keep up with my greyhound and lurchers and cries when she can't!!! Otis is quite clever though. When the hounds are running in big wide circles, usually led by Guinness, he cuts across and intercepts! Coco hasn't quite worked this one out yet!!
Lol, I love it when the hounds are running, they go far in one direction, and another dog follows, notice when they stop, or turn around, and then run like their lives depend on it to try and be the first back to the people that the dogs have let tag along on their walk .
I used to walk(and train and groom and do pet therapy with) a Standard Poodle, IK knew she was fast, but I didn't realize how fast until one of the people I walk with adopted a Greyhound x Deerhound... That dog would try to pull that prank, but Calley'd turn on the afterburners and be right along side We were always shocked that Calley could keep up with a sighthound!
Wow Calley sounds like she was a specal girl too, was the hound a American Staghound or just a cross of the two? Soz for being nosey .
Sorry that sounds snobbish , mine are just crosses, but I was looking up the American Staghound a couple of years ago, and they are amazing lookers, but I wouldn't expect nothing else , and I read that some lines are older then some pedigrees, and some may contain pit, and I've been fanisated by them since, but I don't know any lines, but was wondering whether your friends was known as a Stag, it don't make no difference though, I mean I don't think a hancocks better then my dogs, so I wouldn't think a Stag, which is said to be Deerhound/Greyhound would be better then any other lurcher or longdog.
I love it when he runs with other dogs I've had lots of dogs give up and look confused, some though (a few labs) have kept going even though way behind and then when Axel gives up they catch him and then keep going as though getting justice! Just thought I'd illustrate... Letting him think he can be caught... Ah Ha - taking the breaks off!
AH, see I have one who body slams (literally, runs into the other dog) there are only a few who can take this, (tho one or tqwo have started to do it back!) so I have to choose playplals very carefully!
Lol, bet she's lovely really, and you know it. Don't think I've seen your girl yet, you got any pics?
shes not a hound! (Ive just realised this is in the hound section...d'uh...3 hours sleep and full of cold!)
Lol, my nights been fun aswell, coupled with the fact that when I did get to sleep my alarm was going off every two mins, then the phone frooze completly, you gotta love a bad nights sleep don't ya!
ah...OH, DS and myself all have colds. Rupert in the night, puked all over his bed (que, trying to find something else for him to sleep on) which in turn woke DS. Then Poppy barked at something outside (which again woke DS) So mummy is very very sleepy today!
