    Thanks :)

Well Conbhairean is the one I am liking most at the moment.
Yeah I would really like them to help me choose the right pup for me as I wouldn't know what to look for in a puppy.. and I am not too proud to admit that!

I don't want to show, literally just want a pet :)

Just when I was looking around, it was about an hour and 40 minutes drive and Keira was fine with that, I went down there a few times when she was a puppy as well

Ahh yeah that's what I like about Conbhairean, they are only just over an hour away so not far to visit a few times :)

Surely not?! I also wanted a longcoat when I got Flame and Yogi, but I was also concerned that the breeder did health testing of both parents, that the temperaments of the parents I could live with etc etc. Coat was one of my requirements, but only so far as all the other criteria were met too.

I travelled three hours each way for Yogi and further for Flame.

Distance has never really been an issue for me when choosing the right pup. However, I agree that it is more convenient if the breeder is nearer to be able to go and visit the parents of prospective pups and then meet the pups themselves a few times prior to choosing one and taking him/her home

I am hoping to go to Conbhairean in the next few weeks to see the latest litter, meet Heather's other dogs and get some puppy cuddles ... but not bring one home ;-) I am fairly sure my heart is set on a working line pup next time around, but still think it is worth having a look at other reputable breeders and meet their dogs prior to making a final decision

Have you seen the specific Conbhairean thread with pics?

Nope, I will search it :)

Yeah distance isn't the worst thing, but yeah convenience wise to visit before hand and the pup having a shorter distance to travel in the car is all a bonus for me!

Do you know if she is more contactable by email or phone?

....now I just need to find a way to control my excitment for a couple of years..........

If I were you, I would have a look at the Conbhairean website, visit dog shows where Heather's dogs are being exhibited and get to see them that way initially. When you are seriously planning your pup, then I would ring or email and have a chat :)

Ahh yeah I had seen that thread before! Lovely dogs :)

    Thanks :)

It won't be for a few years until I move out due to parents not wanting a large dog in the house, and me not wanting people let them "get away with things" like they do with Alfie  so easier if I am the only one there!

Oh no Kirsty   I forget how literally posts can be taken ;-) ;-) my first priority was health but I was looking at responsible longcoat breeders.

I just meant in so far as the standard or long coat it was only long coat I was looking at

I spent a year before I got Keira researching, learning about the breed, understanding, hipscores, elbow scores, what to look for what to avoid etc... It is a bit of a minefield and I wish I'd had dogsey back then it would have saved a LOT of legwork

There were plenty of longcoats available but none that I was happy to purchase, I only wanted to buy from a responsible breeder who fully health tested. I did visit a couple of breeders but when I met Karen and Doug I just felt I liked their approach, they were happy for me to meet any of their dogs who all had beautiful temperaments, they were all health tested and they couldn't have been more helpful, I still ring Karen if I have any questions.

    xx
