Everywhere I ask for advice from breeders I am told not to touch dogs from ireland. I had been asking because we had found a pup that was with a lovely family who have other ESS and they have been selling pups on behalf of someone else, hence no mum and no way of checking for health checks etc. My gut feeling is that this family would give us support if we needed and that it would be ok. The pup was lovely, aren't they all, and I feel that he is meant to be our dog. What would you do/what's your advice?
I personally wouldn't get this pup, it doesn't sound right, I am very suspicious of things like this though so i would always air on the side of caution x Why have u been told not to get one from Ireland?x
RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN! Why on EARTH would you buy a dog with no papers, no health checks and no dam that you can see ESPECIALLY when you have children???????????????????? I cannot believe what I am reading............
Well I saw an episode of "It's me or the dog" where Victoria Stillwell was helping a couple who had bought their puppy in a similar way to your description. It had health problems and was a very poor temperament and they were very concerned as they were expecting a baby and it disliked children and had bitten a few! She told them to ALWAYS buy a puppy from a reputable breeder where you can see the pup with its Dam (Mummy) at least.
Yes i agree with Kerryowner. Best to look round a wee bit more. If however your heart rules your head take pup immediatelyvto your vet & tell the family you are doing so. It really isnt worth it for pup to fall ill within days & maybe die.
