Hi - new to Dogsey - wanted to talk to Northern Inuit and GSD people - need some advice - both are Olderhill bloodline - I have been told that my Northern Inuit puppy would not be able to register for training classes as they are not a KC recognised breed - I believe they don't know there are lookalikes and hybrids and that it would be the Hybrids (possibly) that wouldn't be able to register - am I right?
I've never heard of a training class not accepting a dog to be honest, I had shila in a training class when she was younger and had no problems x
Thanks for your repl Jem - She doesn't really need much training to be honest - but i thought she might enjoy it - their loss
It must be wonderful to have a dog that does not need much training! Apart from BAGSD who only accept GSD at their training sessions, no KC registered club would turn away any dog of any or no breed on that basis alone! You do not need papers to attend a training club! Your dog can also be registered on the KC activity register in order to participate in KC licensed events, eg flyball, agility, obedience, working trials, HWTM etc.
She may not now - but she certainly will and best to get started now! I think someone somewhere has either confused you or is confused themselves - it shouldn't matter what breed or mix she is as long as she isn't an illegal breed - just say she is a shepherd cross - or husky cross if it makes things easier - it is equally truthful.
Excellent info - thank you so much - I have always had dogs but never come across anything like this before - I am sure she will be able to go once they educate themselves a bit more - we have registered there with her "brother" in the meantime
unless its ringcraft or a competition who knows what they are on about :? can u explain what u mean by the bit in bold and red please?
Hi - thanks for your reply - well as far as I am aware - and from the breeder where I got her - The breed's intent was to create a dog that closely resembles a wolf in appearance while possessing the gentler, more trainable character of the domesticated dog - whereas the Hybrid may actually have wolf blood therefore may be unpredictable
hmmm.. who have u been chatting to? :? anyhoo wolfs are the gentle bit..its dogs that are the prob lol ;-) i have an n.i an n.i cross and a 'dog that has wolfblood' in my pack
thanks for all your replies - unsure about some of the comments as only joined today however the main thing is I have the pleasure of living with a beautiful little inuit girl who needs and gives lot of love - I joined as this was advertised as the best and most "friendly" place to get advice and talk to other inuit people
Sadly there are some classes who will pick and choose who they take. I cannot understand saying No to an Inuit, unless the trainer did not feel confident enough to work with it? But we have had classes locally refuse to take SBTs There was recently a thread on here where this Kennel was mentioned in conjunction with some dogs who were being rehomed for dubious reasons. I wish you all the best with your pup...Pictures??
