Yes I know they do,but they have no reason to seize a pup under 8 weeks old because it may or may not be type,an 8 week old pup is hardly likely to be dangerous is it.

Did you read my quote from DDA watch where pups were returned,so obviously they do ID before 9 months in some cases,

I think the Police are a law unto themselves.

Its says fudge was signed over by mistake. The lady believed she was signing something else.

I have heard so much of what they do,the underhanded way in which they get dogs signed over, the easy targets, family pets they seize etc.

This was what I was referring to

    From DDA Watch,
The pups were returned after not been type so obviously they do ID under 9 months old.
Hence the remark I made the Police do what suits them, they are a law unto themselves.

the report you reproduce doesnt actually say that.

met police changed the rules to not assess until at least 9 months a couple years ago.

The police may have guidelines for age to be assessed but from experience the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.

Try and find out what is happening and you are met with a blank wall.
They don't have to prove your dog is type if they take it you have to prove it is not.

If that were the case they would have held them, they didn't they returned them so obviously they were found to not be of type.

you arent interpreting your DDAWatch report correctly.
the pups were seized with the parents.
the parents no doubt were oder than 9 months.
the parents were deemed not type after assessment.
if the parents werent type, it automatically follows the pups werent.
therefore the pups havent been assessed under 9 months of age.

also, i dont know if the policy of merseyside police in 2007 was based on the 9 month minimum assessment basis?
i know it was a late amemdment by the met...i know why they did it as well.

Yes I am aware of that, however parents have been seized previously and released but pups have been held, likewise the same has happened with littermates.

your link details 4 court cases.
none of which are about dogs below 9 months of age being assessed for 'type'.
