the story says the pups were over a year, not 5 months.
    4 pups, not one puppy.

Sorry for the confusion, both different cases,
Fudge was 5 months old when taken and killed.
The quote from EDDR is a different case but highlights what exactly goes on.

Bu if no there wasno paperwork for the dogs then agen can not be proved? So the police would say they are old enough and not take the owners word I'm guessing

    maybe.

i was just coming from the point of view that anything that anyone posts on a forum as factual information isnt so unless its corroborated.
naturallly i assumed that's why Sal provided her EDDL link.

    cheers for that
i was hoping for a news story or something like an EDDR or DDAwatch or deednotbreed information report link.
as opposed to just a dogsey thread or facebook page.

otherwise its still the case the police officially dont breed test until at least 9 months.
which is polic for the met, at least

    No problem,
I know where your coming from,
I personally don't trust the Police at all regarding DDA cases.

They pressure owners into signing over dogs, doing it underhanded too.

There have even been cases where owners are going to challenge only to find out that an error was made and the dog was pts.

    Taken from DDA Watch,
If they don't access till 9 months then why are they seizing puppies under 8 weeks old that are not even old enough to be homed ?

    Makes me sick

When the police decide to take a dog as type they try and get the owner to sight the dog over to the police because then they can do what they want with the dog.

If the owner does not sign over the dog then the Police have to go to court to destroy the dog. If the dog is being fought for then they will have to wait until the dog is older to properly ID the dog.
If the dog is signed over they don't need to do this.

Many people sign their dogs over by mistake. They are usually people who don't normally have dealings with Police and feel intimidated and some believe they are doing it so their dog gets treated better ie get medical attention quicker

Fudge was signed over by mistake.

It's so wrong, seizing a litter of puppies because they may/not be type
They even go around rescues to see what dogs and pups may be type, nice to know they have so much time on there hands, whilst the real criminals get away scott free

I know the Police try to get owners to sign over there dogs and have always told people if your dog is taken never ever sign anything because your effectively signing your dogs death warrant.

If they believe your pup is potentially type the can sieze it regardless of age.
If you don't sign over and fight they may have to keep until a judge decides it is old enough to make a decision on.
Pup will stay in police kennels until that time.

The police can now let any suspect dog stay in its own home until court case but I have never heard of it happening
