    Looking for Panamint... (breeder)

hi all this is my first post. I am researching the lines of a dog i am interested in purchasing a puppy from, i have had good luck researching them unitl now, i have come across the name panamint mint, no hits on google nothing, so was wondering if anyone else has any panamint in their lines and knew anything about these dogs. Panamint Mint's sire is Laganmill Meastro and dam is Burswood Maiden. Panamints D.O.B is 19th June 2003. Many thanks.

His father is actually FT Ch Laganmill Maestro.

Neither the dog nor his parents have had any health testing done:roll:  sadly typical of field trial bred dogs :-(

I personally wouldn't want a puppy from lines that have no health testing done

I kno the owner of panamint mint have spent alot of time with her and her previous litter of pups with no health defects, it is her pup *tiggersprings daisy* who i hope to get a pup from, the sire of *Tiggersprings Daisy* is Edgegrove Entitle (FTCH) both lines seem to trace back to dogs that have done well in and out of the feild, i am looking for a stud dog with as few as possible common ancestors to help reduce inbreeding problems.

I can understand you doing your research, and I applaud you for doing so, but there is no way of telling if a dog is carrying an hereditary fault if the sire and dam are not health tested.
You could so easily end up with a dog that has all sorts of problems, just because it hasn't shown itself in the parents doesn't mean they aren't carriers...There are far worse things than inbreeding, if that is done responsibly then that is how a lot of the top breeders keep their lines going, but you will find the top breeders usually perform health checks prior to mating.

i have spoken to *Tiggersprings Daisy's* owner and she is going to have the full health check done :) the stud i am hoping to use is completely DNA tested eye tested etc. i hope for the best for my little girl when she is concieved. I have spent hours reading up on evvery dog following through them online and coming up on dead ends which is frustrating. how can i find out if they have been health tested? many thanks.

If you go to the Kennel Club site http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/services/public/health/search you can research any dog that has been tested and see the results

You will see that the stud dogs records aren't on there..not sure if it's any different for working dogs but I would have expected to see some form of health checks recorded for him.

    Edgegrove Entitle=no health testing done
    Tiggerspring Daisy=no health testing done

    Available via the KC website

You will have great difficulty finding field trial bred dogs that have had all the health tests available done. Just because there are no visible health problems doesn't mean there are no genetic problems nor any undiagnosed clinical conditions

i have emailed the sire's breeder asking for information in rergards to any health tests that have been done. one would hope thta it is a large well known kennel they would of done some health testing.
thank u for opening my eyes to the importance of health testing even if u cant see a problem

We're a mine of information between us, and always happy to share our knowledge with people

I would hate for you to be told that the sire and dam have been health tested when they really mean they have been checked over by a vet.

Sorry, you would be better looking at pedigrees that have health tested their breeding stock for generations,

I get the impression you see all dogs health issues being the result of inbreeding, its far from the actual truth.

he is no on there website so am trying to trace where he is now. and have emailed someone else about him as well. i only want what is best for my little girl. i understand the varying ways diseases arise and only comment to the effect that some breeds are more prone to defects than others.

So have I & only one dog has had it's hips scored & eyes tested & that is one that wasn't bred there, So not such a health testing paragon as you believe

You are going to take the bitch's X rays for scoring ? You must be a vet then ?

I’ve never known a working breed springer to have been hip scored, I don’t think it’s a problem within the breed….but Its common for them to be Eye Tested under the KC/BVA/ISDS Eye Examination Scheme for inherited eye disease. Also tested for GPRA CPRA, Goniodysgenesis and Fucosidosis.
