Think I've fallen in love with a Malamute we met today... General Chat

Dexter has a new friend - a Malamute that we met in the park for the second time today.

His name is Harry and what I wanted to ask is, are his looks 'typical'?

He has blue eyes (I read that the breed standard specifies dark eyes?) and he is huge.

He's 11 months old and bigger than the GSDs in the park, he has much longer legs. His colour is white and silver/grey.

Have to say that this Malamute is one of THE most stunning dogs I have ever seen, anywhere (apart from Dexter of course)

He was really playful and he and Dexter had great fun together.

The Malamute was off leash - is their recall generally better than Huskies?

I always thought Mals had brown eyes also.
You sure it wasnt a Huskamute ? as our huskamute Diesel is larger than a GSD.

And yes - the dog we met today did look like your lad...

I spoke to the owner and he seemed very definite that his dog was a Malamute, but as I didn't get a chance to ask which breeder/rescue he got him from, I guess it's possible he's a Huskamute!

The dogs were gorgeous together - at one point they were literally standing nose to nose, staring into each other's eyes...

Then they both went down into a mock bow, and started racing each other, then chasing.

For Dexter it was a dream come true - he's bigger and bouncier than virtually every other dog in the park so to find this lovely, playful Malamute/Malamute X was fab.

I will DEFINITELY take pics next time, am just hoping we meet them again, hopefully we will as the owner said they are regulars at this park

I agree, definatley not a Pure Malamute, mals only have hazel/brown eyes and are disqualified as a crossbreed if they have any other colour, still a lovely looking dog though
