The WPD title stands for 'Working Pack Dog'. To achieve this title the dog has to carry a backpack that weighs at least 30% of its own bodyweight over a set distance. For the WPD title the dog has to hike a minimum of 40 miles (at least 10 miles per hike) unless you do an overnight campout where you are allowed to hike for 30 miles. I own Buck's brother
ahh right. do they have organised hikes which people do together, or do you just go about and do your own 10 miles? oh do you? pictures!!! which one is he on the website? im looking through it again now, just gone through the whole gallery of that litter. reading every single word on their website lol
The parent club organised one hike a year or so ago now, but normally it falls to individuals to organise their own. Most people find others who want to do the titles and go out in small groups (this is how we did ours). You need to have an independant witness though to verify the distance travelled, the weight of the dog and the weight carried. He is Zeph
ooh scrummy i love that colour!! 10 miles a walk, its one way of keeping fit id love to do that, and i love to have a go on a rig too i could have a mal, do the 10 mile hike, and get it to carry the cresteds when they get tired another question- it says in the standard blue eyes are disqualified, i dont think ive ever seen a blue eyed mal so does it not happen very often? and also the only solid colour accepted is white, but i havent seen a completely white mal, so im guessing these two faults are not common?
I organised one for localish people last year (or the year before LOL - fab memory NOT) - was good fun - we had about 25 Mals backpacking
