I think that each link should be looked at individually… this link was not advertising puppies for sale. It has some excellent information on the dogs, the history and health and is a great link for people who want to learn more about these dogs. Therefore IMO it should be allowed, especially since the health of these dogs was thrown into question therefore is relevant to the thread! As for the posting guidelines, I have just re-read them and many members break them on a regular basis! I did too, but after what Dawn said about her dogs, it is hardly surprise she wanted to get a dig in. Not saying it was right btw...
The forum rules are clear for all members one being - 3.Link drops – we don’t allow people to advertise their sites, instead you may add the url to your profile (subject to following the link guidelines) and add a short note in your signature to mention it. Alot of websites have information on it, the poster could copy it over then add their website to their profile. The website doesnt have puppies for sale 'at present' not to say they wont in months, or weeks to come when the website is still posted. You are not allowed to advertise on the forum (one of the best rules if you ask me) - also the link may have contained links to other forums and sites, something else that is against the rules - (I didnt see the link posted). I dont get the biggie its not like people complain when others have linkes removed? She can add it to her profile. You cant chop and change rules to suit - what kind of forum would dogsey be if that was allowed? an unfair place, where members wouldnt be equal.
I dont think for one second lonsdale was trying to gain anything or advertise pups, the link was basically there so people interested could have a look and learn something about Leavitt Bulldogs. The thread is after all about different types/lines of bulldogs. The link has been removed now, so can we drop it. Cant we get back on topic and talk BULLDOGS?
Our Bulldogs are scored by the FCI &average a FCI A2 = BVA 0-5 Anything higher than an FCI B2 = BVA 12 - 16 would unlikely to be bred from - litter mates, ancestry and the bulldog would have to bred to a another with exceptional hips. All Leavitt bulldogs have to be approved by the Leavitt Bulldog Association before breeding to ensure only the Healthiest Bulldogs are bred from. If they are not Approved the offspring will not be issued with paper work and not recognised as Leavitt Bulldogs. Health is the priority.
The only reason i have mentioned that IMO it is an ok link is coz JB was going on about her breaking the forum rules. Yes, she can put it on her profile, but why shouldnt she be able to defend the health of her dogs when others are making such comments?? There are plenty clear forum rules that are broken on a regular basis, and i rarely see JB telling other members they have broken the rules!
The first link was put up after my request in another thread on info about the LB. It was not unsolicited..
Of course she can defend her 'breed' with health information - You dont need to post other sites to do that if your in the know - or if she wanted the information on that site seen she could have C&P'ed it.
If I see it I mention it, as with this one. I was "gong on" about a poster breaking the rules, "after " said poster gave an unprovoked response(dig) to another member. Not to mention even before I posted, a mod had already removed said link.
Well i posted the link to our site in my profile and in the process of putting the dogsey link on our site. I didn't realise it had been removed twice and if i have been informed of the problems with posting the link in the first place there would not have been a problem - It was the accusation of the advertising to sell litters that i had a problem with. That was not fair and very insulting.
slightly o/t i have had a disagreement with someone breeding one of my breeds with dogs of an fci grade c and they cannot see(or want to) the reason i have a problem :-(
When people have invested a lot of time, heart and soul in a potential breeding prospect it can be hard to let go and realise a dog has not made the grade. We have decided in the past that a dog is not of breed quality and it was heartbreaking but very necessary if you have the future of the breed in mind and heart. Our Breed association make it clear from the start to avoid what you are going through now. Generally people will come to our breed because of the stricter health screening and breed approval so we are all on the same page - majority of the time anyway.;-)
I apologise, i read it wrong and didnt realise you specifically stated it was the Leavitt Bulldog Association site that you looked at. Although, it is the Leavitt Bulldog Association who approve the dogs for breeding, so when you criticise their health and say the dogs look deformed and question how they could be approved, then you are criticising her dogs too... as they will have been approved by them. You also criticised the breed as a whole. Anyway, i do apologise for thinking it was her site you were refering to.
I think , thats called clutching at straws So someone says they saw some really ugly looking Boxers, I am to take offence for the whole breed,
and when CC's win the ugliest dog comp People have a real problem on this forum of late with peoples opinions!
Around 16 - 19inch I belive the Mollet bulldogs were based on the very early show bulldogs before they were so exaggerated, whereas the Leavitt is based on the original working Bull baiting Bulldog from 1800's
