so it was MONEY did happen remember? ... also csv's are a breed of dog not a crossbreed with wolf thrown in..there was a reason and purpose and a goal
Ive never read anywhere wether they were actually any good or not. Or was it like the sarrloos didnt exactly turn out to be suitable for many jobs!
csv's worked better than saarloos but as i said.. they were not needed anymore. the idea of the csv was the quality's of a working gsd with added extra's. soz going o/t
I cannot see how anyone could believe it is a good thing to be buying a 'breed' and not know what has made it up??Inuits (British and Northern), Utes, British Wolfdogs....(and the things we are not allowed to mention)...are marketed by many as a breed (wrongly IMO)...to be unaware of what has gone in (so many people do not even seem to realise there is Sibe or Mal in there). It is unfair on the people buying them IMO.
The guy I used to work with was in the Czech Army when the breed was being created. It was quite interesting to hear his take on it - although this was in the late 60's early 70's I believe and a lot has moved on since then.
So many people have been around these dogs five minutes and they become breeders!!!!!! I don't mean to be critical or judge mental but it does suggest €.Perhaps worse are the people and I have seen so many over the last few years who buy a NID or two, breed a litter or two or three, then sell their dogs on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it was money, but that was not what motivated Eddy. Yes, of course, she wanted to be a successful breeder, who wouldn't? I know nothing about her from early years, but I gather she was a successful breeder of GSDs and Mals in particular. She actually started off she told me crossing GSDs with her wolfy imports, but found them to be too aggressive - remember her bloodlines came from timber wolves, not the Carpathian wolf - and she found that the extra dollop of wolf blood from the german shepherd combined with her current wolfy stock, was too much. She then experimented with Mals, but as you might expect, they proved to be just too much of a handful, and the males tended to be aggressive with other males, and it was at this stage that she started using Sibes. I have no idea where, which or how, I didn't go into the details with her, but this would have been in the middle to late-ish 80's. As we all know, both the czechie and the saarloos are recent wolf crosses - from the Carpathian wolf though, not the timber. I have met several czechies, and found them absolutely lovely, to the point where I would love to own one. I have yet to meet a Saarloos, but something tells me I will love them even more, but I will bide my time until I eventually manage to meet one. There was indeed a reason, purpose and goal with both breeds, and so there was with Eddy. She had a vision, and sadly it was messed up for her by OTHER PEOPLE. Of course, she had barely begun when she died unexpectedly and far too early. But I like to think that when she had settled in her new home in Lincolnshire, she would have got her act together and started afresh, with some financial security behind her having sold the farm. Sadly, we will never know, it was not meant to be.
Tassle: you have cut and pasted my words completely out of context! I never said how I couldn't decide whether it was a bad thing or a good thing to be buying a "type" and not know what has made it up. Norty norty you! What I meant was when I said I couldn't make my mind up as to whether it was good or bad, was about the fact that the BI's, the NI's, and all the other connations have burned their bridges and there can be no going back. I am thinking in terms of the best interests of the dogs. And I still can't decide.
Couldn't find the lead to hook the tv up to the computer from that day to this but here you go.Going back a few years sinc eposting but there you go, this was from the mid nineties. Wasn't impressed with some of the N.I folk cutting a tiny segment n passing it off on youtube as their own why they posted, i messaged and was told "its our footage back off", but hey ho.
That's not the Friday night live chat show that I am talking about, when I saw wc's for the first time. It would be interesting to see if we could get hold of the footage from that tv show. Thanks Luke for posting it up, very interesting.
I dont know if Eddie had wolves or not but its certainly not hard to believe. When i was around eight years old in the early seventies my gran took me to the circus, at the end of the show their was two tiger cubs for sale. True. Also was Christian the lion not sold from Harrods to two guys who lived in a flat in the seventies?
But rumours are rumours, this is a lot based on people who knew her well and had dealings with her in regards too the dogs, and not good ones either. Varying from puppy buyers, too locals. I'm more than interested in making a living, not at the price of a living animal however and not in the style she did and the style in which these dogs have been exploited ever since. And it sickens me that we as dog lovers, bleating on about cruelty, puppy farming, ethical breeding etc, could ever condone such a statement.
