Really enjoyed this site, thank you - not just the genetics, but some of those WC's are stunning!

I'd have the Black & Tan in a heartbeat... reminds me of a WC, pet-owned, I saw earlier this year on a walk - deep rich red with black mask & ears & patch on tail as it was full-tailed. Owner fell over backwards when I asked if it was a WC.

Some of these dogs are so striking I am at a loss to wonder why they can't compete with the show version, or on their own basis. I'm not normally attracted to spaniels at all.... but I do love the look of these!

There are so many different sizes, colours of spaniels no wonder people get confused!

I alway thought that Field Spaniels were all brown, but then I saw a working cocker once just the same colour.

Our one ESS looks like a cocker and we once got asked if she was, even when I said that Harley and Thistle are brother and sister from the same litter and the woman commented that she knew Harley (L&W) was a springer....daft woman.

[With working and show cockers or springers it is just the breeding that they have had. Although with our 2, Harley follows his mum and has a different coat on him and Thistle follows her dad with the more wirey coat and less of a 'sticky bud magnet'

I would say Boots and Millie were show type.. it's the ears that give it away.. but then again - what do I know, I started the bl**dy thread  Seriously I would think Show strain.

J&T - Tarimoor's Miggin has been rehomed to a working home.. she now has a FCR - of which she has so rudely not told any of us lot about ;) (we're on another forum)

That sticky bud photo brought back so many memories for me, Marco is just the same, spent 3 hours picking them out one day!

I've took far more of an interest in the springer & cocker's since Marco seems to enjoy playing with them, fellow spaniels I guess! Would be nice to have one as a playmate for him, but not sure I could handle 2 dogs with that much stamina! Though I suppose the same walk would do them both! Are they really stubborn too?

SLB popped over to the other place and woke me up by poking me with a sharp stick.

The honest answer is I have no idea of Miggin's breeding, I can find out if you like? Miggin is currently living about six miles down the road with his new owner, sold on part trained at about 18 months old, at a huge loss, but a much better one to one home, and his new owner is absolutely thrilled to bits with him. He's turning heads (Miggin that is) on the local shoot, and fingers crossed will turn into the adult that he was showing such promise to. He wasn't right for trialling (a movement thing which spaniel afficionados know much more about than me, too tail high apparently), which was what the OH wanted, as he's more than enough cockers to keep his hands full atm, of his own breeding, including a lovely entirely working bred blue roan bitch.

And, apols for my absence, I've had to cut back the number of forums I post on, due to a new job and moving house, and am about to move house yet again for the fourth time in three years, this time a more semi permanent move, as I'm buying rather than renting.

    Hi Tarimoor

Many thanks for coming back so quickly, SLB certainly knows how to get a person moving!!

It was just out of interest really, always like to hear about other owner's experiences from a particular breeder.

Glad to hear that Miggin is doing so well. Ours won't be doing anything other than some local pheasant shoots and picking up pigeon, although I have somewhat "stolen" Copper as my agility dog, the nutter can jump like a cat!
