English, Irish and setter x in rescue, so sad.

Im on the mailing list for a small independent rescue called black retriever x and they have been overrun with setters recently it appears, stunning teenage orange English boy with the most wonderful markings and speckly legs and a gorgeous Irish with a setter x too. It's so sad they're in rescue this close to Xmas, just wondered if anyones contacts, sheree you're were my first thought:blush: might be able to help.I'm resisting the temptation to phone about bracken, the English, 2 are quite enough...ATM!

I contacted them about one of the dogs on there when I was looking, I answered all the questions asked and she didn't even bother to get back in touch to say I wouldn't be suitable, just ignored me!

Hi Jess, I have emailed some English Setter friends and I have a few people on my waiting list that have asked me to look out for something for them and I'm in contact with the English rescue so can put them on the case in need.

It makes me so sad to think of them needing a home, well any breed really but my heart belongs to the English Setters :-(

How rude! I found them when I was looking too, they're in wiltshire and so are not too far which with Chester being so travel sick was something I was paying a lot of attention to but then we found out about griffins litter and the rest is history!
Unfortunately not but it does sound like the beginning of a joke now I think about it, written in a hurry spur of the mo!

I thought of you, Claire and Rachel when I saw Bracken, know their soft spots for orange boys and thought you might know someone who would find room for him in their hearts, I'd have him any of them in a shot, I so shouldn't look on these sites!

Just to update you, Elaine, who had my dear old Tyler (RIP) when I had to rehome mine, is interested in Bracken, we are going to make enquiries today so I will keep you posted.

Please keep everything crossed for us :)

Thanks Jess, the email has been sent and I have given her a glowing reference, I have also let them know that I am happy to help if they have any more English come in, I know I can't take them but I will do anything I can to help them find good homes.

I will update as soon as we hear anything, although they may go direct to Elaine, I'm not sure how it works, but I know she will let me know if she hears from them

I've just heard back from my friend about Bracken, she hadn't heard anything back from the rescue and was hoping I had...I thought she would be contacted direct.

Does anyone know, is it worth pursuing or do they never get back to people?

    Many thanks

I didn't get anything back from them either, makes you wonder if they actually want to rehome the dogs or not!

Wel I just rang them Claire, spoke to a lovely man who said that Bracken is still there and is just the most adorable thing on this earth...looks like he's smitten like the rest of us. He gave me another email address and asked that Elaine contact them direct and they will try to get the ball rolling...fingers crossed

They have a Newfie bitch called Ebony on the site, what a poppet she is too :-(

Having spoken to the chap today I think I would phone them in future, or advise others to as I'm not allowed anything else at the moment ;-)

He was a really nice chap and he was telling me all about the cuddles they had with Bracken over the weekend etc., I wonder if they don't have the time or, perhaps the technology, to respond to emails. He did remember me and the one I sent but he sounded quite elderly so maybe he doesn't know how to respond and has to wait for someone else to do so. Such a pity as this could mean some dogs miss out on their forever homes.

Happy is actually advertised on the GSP Rescue SW and advertised as a pointer x collie.

I wonder who has this bitch then.

Ditto, but we must be strong!!!;-)

I was wondering Sheree if your friend had heard back from them about Bracken, hopefully if phoning is the way to go then the ball might start rolling...
