Cross breeding Controversial

i suppose anyone who breeds could be judged to be exploiting their animals... so imo there needs to be a good reason to do it ie.....if they bred with the aim of hopefully improving on their lines and sold the 9 puppies then that to me is a good reason(provided everything else was done ethically), on the other hand if they bred just because they 'wanted' a puppy then no this isnt reason enough to do it.

i bred my bitch to improve on the dogs i have, out of the litter of 4 i kept all 3 of the bitches(2 have done well in the ring the 3rd dosent like the show scene tho shes probably the best conformation wise...typical lol), in saying that my line ends here! i will Never breed again i got too attached to the puppies and i dont want the responsibility of bringing more puppies into the world!....a responsibility that Far to many breeders take to lightly!

I think that almost all if not all people who show dogs, breed to improve on what they have already got, and to keep one to further that hopefully improved line. I wondered why with the fact you have all those pedigree dogs that you were so against the breeding of them and saw it as "exploitation" when you had done it yourself, that was my reason for asking you.

Some breeders do not take on further responsibility I agree, but in the show world its far far less than in the puppy farming or crossbreed world.
