Me going to a breeder that failed to test has nothing to do with my opinions on cross breeding. Just remember when I put my name down for a pup I was under the impression that both sire and dam has been tested. ;-).

I dont agree with cross breeding, and have stated why I dont 100 times already on this and other threads, and quite frankly cant be bothered to do so again. If you dont understand them thats your problem, if you dont agree with me thats your problem.

No - it has to do with your research.....

Which you mentioned that many people who buy crossbreeds don't do! I was pointing out that this is the same for pedigrees and not a valid reason IMO for not producing crosses!

Do you advise people to go to puppy farms?? If not then I guess you just the same :)

I made a mistake, does not mean I cant disagree with such practices.. or does it because you say so?

I took the breeders word... I couldnt check up on health tests done on the dam because she wasnt added to the site. The sire was on the site, and all his results where there for me to see.

Yes I did, as breeder had sent a pedigree she had made.

You could have typed her name into the KC health database, would have given you the info you needed.:)

I did that for both sire and dam, neither came up. But I spoke with the breeder of the sire who is also involved with the CC's so I knew he were done, and just thought she must have been telling the truth about the dam .. I had no reason to think she was lying.
I still went there evening knowing she wasnt tested, thats my mistake and not something I am proud about, Mace is a great lad and I wouldnt change him.
Plus the KC site is abit slow adding new details, we had dogs tested start of 09 that still havent been added

I think this is what bothers me about cross breeders - they have nothing to strive for. There are plenty of cross breeds born from accidental litters and plenty of well bred pedigree dogs that are waiting for pet homes, so why the need to breed cross breeds? I'm afraid for me when I hear of people breeding cross breeds it makes me think they're doing it more for money than anything else and dogs bred for money, be them pure bred or cross bred, is unethical to me.

Wow its got hot in here since i was last on. Just for record the pups we have bought have had a full line of history. One thing i dont like which I think may dupe people is it is easy to come by registers for crosses which make them look like a ped. Dont like that. Should always be made 100% clear to the buyer what they're getting. Yes you can record the dog history if they chose to breed but thats not what a crossbreed is about imo.

If that are that many well bred pedigrees looking for homes then there is something wrong there as well....I just fail to see why it should be cross breeds that the embargo is put on when they are doing that responsibly.

    I've never said otherwise.....

I just don't trust cross breeders for the reasons stated in my original post.

I think any breeder that put 'cockerpoo' 'labradoodle' 'puggle' on an advert is just out there to make money. Otherwise, why would they need the gimmick? Why not just say, cocker spaniel x min poodle.....

wow it has got hot in here, but its the same old, same old, for the record , i have thought about this since i got home, and i have decided that i can't come up with a good reason to slate cross breeders if before they breed they:

    Knows the dogs lines,
does all the relevant health checks for both breeds if necessary.
Has homes lined up for all pups, that are suitable,
and agrees to take back their pups at anytime if something goes wrong.

My biggest gripe with breeders certainly in working springers is that a lot of them will sell them to totally unsuitable homes, then won't take them back and rescue ends up picking up the pieces
