Incase anyone wanted to see it. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/vi...8_Campaign:_Cut_Number_Of_Greyhounds_Put_Down_ Interesting report, full of beautiful dogs
It makes me laugh that that guy said that racing greyhounds are supposed to be chipped . My Holly wasn't and she is an ex-racer! And only 4!! What beautiful creatures they are. I wish I could have more
From 1st Jan this year any greyhound trialling or racing at a GBGB licenced track MUST be microchipped. Kev
Well that's a start. I just suspect that anyone who willing to chop a grey's ears off to hide it's identity is also willing to hack out a microchip.
Are you the same Kev Stow who is treasurer of Posh Owners and Trainers Association, at Peterborough Stadium? Who is keeping a log of the microchips please? Kath
glad there are attempts being made to sort things out. my new greyhound gap boy was on the clip, thats how i heard about it. its great that charities like the gap are there to pick up the peices.
It is good that things are being sorted, but the chipping will only be for Greys who race, there needs to be something put in place for the Greys who do not make the grade, so there is traceability across the board, lets hope this happens, so we then have no more dogs with ears cut off. Kathx
Kath, Chipping will be done for any greyhound that trials regardless of whether they then make the grade and race or not. Microchip information is stored by the GBGB, but all microchips allocated to them are now recorded on Petlog Database. Kev
