OMG, he may very well be. I am keen on their dogs and I know they are from Durham, which is where this dog is from. I did not find him on their website though, it was an add site , off to check out their website.

Just been on to check and it is him.

I've met him, but IMO I wouldn't have one of his pups as his hips are awful! Lovely temprement dog though! Moults like hell too (worse than Jess and I didn't think that was pos).

They are using a stud with bad hips? Shame if they are, or have been intentionally.

Well just took a look at their site, ...are these breeders supposed to be reputable, because what I read does not sound good.

    Sash... three litters, 2002, 2005, 2006

    True, four litters , 2007 2008 2009 20010

Not what I call someone breeding for the good of the breed. 4 litters in 4 yrs...

    And 2 in 2yrs:shock:

Well, purely on looks and temprement , the looks are stunning , I prefer a more 'unusual look' and their temprements are meant to be superb.

But what about the health and welfare of the dogs... does stunning take president over the fact the breeder is using the bitches to produce litters every 12 mths...

Personally unusual looks would be my last thing in looking for a breeder, I prefer one who does all the relevant health tests and does not treat her dogs as nothing more than a machine to pop out those unusual pups.

Do neither of you have a problem with someone taking a litter from a bitch every 12 mths for 4 yrs on the trot:shock:

I to would look for more than the unusual looks of the pups..First of all the tests and the results that have been done and what are the breeders ethics, what do they know about the breed, feel they can offer, why they had the litter ect ect and the dogs tempermants, how they conform to breed standard, fit and healthy ect..

But i guess you could get liver pups in a litter of colours that did conform to breed standard?
so i guess what i should say is parents of the pups conform to breed standard, as when breeding you cant ever be sure that the litter will conform to breed standard in every way :)

There is far worse than breeding from a bitch once a year. Such breeders that breed every 6mths for instance. These breeders we don't even see websites for as they can't be bothered. There are loads out there for various breeds.

What about white , is it considered ethical to breed from white to get white puppies, add the liver to that, they seem to be more concerned about getting "unusual colours " than anythign else.

Yep, breeders who breed on a 6mth basis are equally as bad, but as they are not the subject of the topic and have no website advertising their breeding regime, then we cant talk about "hypothetical " these breeders are proud to say they have taken 4 litters in 4 yrs from a bitch, 2 litters in 2 yrs from another ...:?

Bitches need time to recover after whelping, and any good breeder would tell you it can take up to 12 mths for a bitch to recover, and no breeder I know woudl then go an take another from her within that time.

Most breeders will take a maximum of 3 litters from a bitch, (most only 2) and will leave at least 2 yrs in between,

Not to mention, the "liver " stud has a "bad hip score"" yet he is coming out of retirement

Anyone how takes 4 litters in 4 yrs from a bitch, is NOT doing it for the benefit of the dog:roll:

Yet it seems all that matters (for some) is the dogs are stunning!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but I find a lot on that site disturbing, breeding for unusual colours breeding from a dog with bad hips, (note no hip scores for any of the others, but they are easily checked , on the kc site) breeding from one that she says her self is rather short, but a fab colour, to many litters from to few bitches........ to name just a few concerns.....

P.S..just notices where she advertisers her litters on that wonderful site , Epupz!! yep, the sign of a responsible breeder.
