Anyone know anything about this breed? They seem to be similar to the border collie, but slightly wider in the head?
Another American invention like the Australian Shepherd. English Shepherd is just another working sheep dog & not really a shepherding(definition:To herd, guard, tend, or guide as or in the manner of a shepherd") breed. Typical of the Americans to give dogs a fancy name
Hmmm, to me they look nothing at all like border collies. They are a working farm dog, but they DID originate from dogs bred for farm work in England. English shepherd looking dogs can be seen in English art work dating back several centuries. I know the lady who bred the first litter of ES born on English soil, if you are interested, I'm sure she would love to chat with you about her fav. breed. Just PM me.
They are a working sheep dog not an "English Shepherd"no matter where they come from, the name is yet another Americanism, they do like fancy names for their dogs.
