My Lemon licks slugs and snails, but you have to be really careful as they can pick up lung worm and heart worm from slugs and snails. I pay a fortune for a spot on( like the flea spot on) which prevents lung worm/heart worm. Its a killer so please be aware. Its mainly in the south of the country but it is spreading. On a happier note the pup looks smashing.

Thanks for that! I didn't know it came from slugs and snails!! Beau has been wormed recently and I'll be asking the vet to recommend a good wormer when he has his second set of jabs in 2 weeks. Will the 'normal' wormer cover him for this? I know it's a silly question but Beau is my first dog! :?

No a normal wormer does not cover this, ask your vet, he will tell you, we use Advocate.

    Hi Amy,

Beau is settling in really well thanks

He has a VERY strong character and is really energetic and lively! We crate him overnight and after an initial couple of nights where he cried a little (We didn't go to him! Harsh I know but I really think it helped!) he's fine all night in there now!

He eats ANYTHING and EVERYTHING at the minute which is a bit of a nightmare  and we're finding toilet training VERY hard :-( but otherwise he's doing great!

Not long til you get Monty now

We went to see Monty yesterday and he is great! He to is already trying to eat everything! ;-)

Look forward to more updates when you can

Sorry I am a pest hey Vics, it's just he is sooooo cute! It's really nice to hear how things are going as I am sure it will be a similar experience for us!

I am glad the toilet training is going better! - Well done you!
Would you definately recommend a crate then??

Monty is rather cute isn't he? He seems sooo serious all the time and is quite wrinkly bless him lol!

    Thanks for updating!

No probs Amy (I take it you've seen the new pics I've posted on a new thread in the 'Hounds' section).

I would def recommend a crate and Beau seems to have really taken to his. I know he's safe when he's in it and it really seems to be helping with the toilet training! The only think I would suggest is that if the crate is quite big (in terms of puppy size) section part of it off. We originally let Beau have the run of the whole crate but I found that he had room to sleep in one half and toilet in the other which isn't ideal! We divided his crate in 2 and now he doesn't soil his crate (except the occasional accident which is very rare!) as he only has room for his bed now. :)

Not long to go now until you get Monty!

I too have a beagle pup, Ruby who is 4 1/2 months. What wonderful pups they are!
