The link has been removed but if you look on the home page there is no pups advertised. and i know most of the breeders now and they have people waiting.

Well the above is on the NIS website. You'd think somebody like that would have no need to advertise wouldnt you? Mind you, you can only have so many people waiting when you keep producing.

I didnt put a link to anywhere, so I dont know why its been removed, it was a popular "e" place to advertise pupz. :002:

Still complaining I see ............. your pups were vet checked (twice) and wormed .......... the vet we used would not remove the back due claws......so for our next litter we changed vets ........... and all pups in the following litters had their back dew claws removed .......... this years litter which were also micro chipped ............ALL I got with my 1st pup was a b----y receipt ..... I should start up a thread called ... the most regretful thing I ever did as a breeder ........ as selling You two of my pups would be top of the agenda

Maybe off subject, (Doreen this is general and not aimed at you) but I would not want my pups dew claws removed, I may be a minority but if he was born with it , I want him to keep it. I do know why breeders get them removed but having had a dog that had 'double' dew claws , who was throughly and regularly excercised through a variety of terrain and no probs, I would prefer my pup kept his hind dew claws.

sorry, devils advocate,it is illegal to remove dew claws unless for a valid reason ,rear dew claws are often removed when the dog is older and needing a g.a for something else at the time,i personally wouldnt breed from a dog that produces/has rear dew claws anyway!!......runs and hides!;-) ;-)
eta....WW, white thunder hasnt arrived yet!!!did he get lost in the dark? lol.xxx

I didn't know it is ileagal, but I guess that it is up to the vets discretion. I am glad when I got Shadow (RIP) , the breeders vet would not remove the dew claws.

Thunder has decided to stay xxxxxxx But he sends his love and says thanks very much for offering to have him!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it? Not heard that, most people I know who docked, still remove dew claws, Id be interested to read the valid legislation for that, I understood it was a recommendation rather than a law.

Yes, any reputable breeder wouldnt sell two puppies from the same litter to one person, I agree.

Its not illegal to remove dewclaws and in fact its still legal to do it yourself.
My vet removed them off my last litter quite happily.

Yep MS, thats how I understood it, perfectly legal but some Vets I know are recommending not doing it, because it was often done in line with docking.

most welsh have at least one puppy with rear dew claws, the breed would die out !!!!!!
My friend works his dogs and has them legally docked but for some reason the vet can't or won't do dew claws.

Can anyone explain to me why the latest snobbery regarding "advertising avenues", not just from Borderdawn but a number of people?

Surely the important factor is that potential owners of this breed are vetted for their suitability by breeders. If the breeder chooses to advertise in gumtree, PAH, ebay, yellow pages or wherever then logically this brings more potential owners for the breeder to then choose suitability from.

Advertising on your own website does not make potential owners any "better" or "worse".

Seems the breeder is getting a rough ride here on the strength of an illogical argument?

I would have though sites like gumtree would mean more weeding out of bad homes, its not a site I would sell pups on personaly

I would prefer people to have thought about the breed they want, done a bit of looking into it, in doing this, it would take them to breed club sites / breeders sites/ the kennel club site....

to me gumtree is for your spur of the moment buyer,

on the other side of the coin how many owners on the forum got there dog via a site like gumtree?

    GOOD breeders dont advertise ANYWHERE!!
In fact most good breeders you don't even know they have a litter unless you are on the list for it (or friends with them)

SO you would buy a pup from E pupz or Gumtree etc etc..says a lot about you too!!

AND good breeders don't even think about breeding until they have a FULL list of puppy people..and by full I mean enough to cover an average litter plus extra in case of any reasons they have changed their minds etc..

I use champ dogs to sell my puppies because we don't keep lists in fact Ive already passed about 9 onto the next breeder who has a litter due.
To be honest I think most people use the internet now adays to search for things, and buy and sell and as long as your checks are vigerous cant see any difference.
Last time I had the only litter in the country.

    Nothing new there then;-)

I have bought a couple of my Chis advertised on E*upz and they are lovely, healthy dogs. No, I'll admit, it's not the best place to advertise (because of the scammers and lowlife that advertise non-existent/sick puppies on there) but many of the Breeders that advertise on the KC website also advertise their litters on E*upz. Why not, so long as they are selling healthy pups, from healthy parents, selling at a reasonable price and willing to take the pup back at any time in its life????? It's just this "downer" on Breeders:roll:

Have to agree with you. I have bought most of my dogs through ads, I would not buy a pup unless I was happy with the breeder and the dogs. It is a minefield, I have seen top breeders that leave a lot to be desired about their breeding practices. I think the majority of the GP look at ads to get their pups.
