Always happy to show off my dogs.

    Boomer

    and Jake (sadly passed).

Currently looking at a deaf staffy at a rescue, the plan was to take her home this weekend but we've had some emergency work done on the house and wanted her to arrive in a more sedate environment, here's hoping for next weekend!

Boomer was the most temperamental dog around at the rescue, had a real nasty streak and, I must admit, it was touch and go when I first got because of his aggression, nowadays he is an angel. Jake was the classic dog no one would want. When I got him he was already 13 and had kidney failure, arthritis and has almost totally blind. Best dog you could ever hope for!!!!

Oh MY!! we are being childish now are we not!!

Just so myself and other members here understand you correctly , its may be an idea if you explain in simple terms what we seem to be misunderstanding.:? :?

Because I think you will find, most of us understand the term "ISBT" to SBT one is a recognized breed, the other is a euphaisma!!

Falling on deaf ears I think... :?

I think Clare, this explains the "work " this proper breed does

Funny though, but I always thought most dogs would do so given the chance.

All these Borders/JRT/ terriers and anythign inbetween that had an ounce of prey drive , would do the same.

But then they are not what is referred to as a "proper dog"!

Dont you think its funny that we suddenly have a couple of new members all of the same strain.. jumping straight in on the attack, with aggressive and insulting post.:? :?

I just wish they could punctuate.
There seems to be a divide between SBT peeps who love and like their dogs, and the `irish` SBT owners who seem to need an `ard dog. (Shades of Thickipedia here).
So no-one has posted anything to change my mind about `irish staffs` being a name for bull breed crosses with a twonk on the end of the lead.

I'd just like to say, that although there seems to be some people on here that think of the dogs as 'better' then normal staffs, I have met some people with dogs that they call ISBT's and they treat them no different then any other Staff, I had a fav from the rescue called Flower, a gorgeous tiger brindle, and she was the most cuddly dog ever, and I was doing some agility and obience with her then, something that even KC reg staffs can do too surprisangly ;) as there was a bitch there whose sister won 2nd BOB at crufts, and she was doing the same things there and trying to get a new home, but when people came to look at her they never got told of her sister, and she was black and got over looked a lot :(

Its seems to be just the same as every breed, you get some people who want the dogs for one thing, and some people who want the dogs for another.

One dog never equals better then another, whether its a breed, a mix, a show dog, a working dog anything, if someone thinks that there dog is better then someone else's dog, well I'm sorry but I think that you have a inferioty complex, as each dog should be loved for what it is, not what it looks like or what it does.

I have a Leeds Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

She's good for carrying very large sticks, chasing balls, swimming in rivers and snuggling.

Why wouldn't we have a clue about them? Why don't you get off your high horse, you are not the only ones to know about these dogs.

Perhaps, as you are the one who is stating that the rest of us would not have a clue about a working staff.. the onus is on you to enlighten us as to the difference between your "working Staffie" and the ones us lesser mortals either know or own!!!

Because up to now , you have been rather evasive on the "work " they do""

Apart from your claim that "you use them to kill vermin"

You claim that KC registered Staffies could not possibly do "work" so please , just so we dont get confused or plump or fall off our high horses..

    Enlighten us!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you may have forgotten your name:lol:

Yes I have something to add. Lots of dogs are capable of working and are fit and healthy, not just your Staff crosses or whatever they are. You and your friends seem to be very critical about other breeds of dog, including Staffordshire Bull Terriers. I have seen plenty of very fit looking Staffies at conformation shows that would be perfectly capable of ratting and rabbitting. The 'ISBT' is a code for Pit Bull type and people like you and your buddies will not do the anti bsl movement any favours at all by spouting about bloodlines of fighting dogs.
