I suggest u do some research,if 25 years ago is recently then yes,breed to type? seeing as you live in glasgow why not pop over and you can view with your own eyes? and i can answer any questions you have, think you might be pleasantly suprised

LOL that's a laugh, I very much doubt that the KC would accept another Bulldog Breed no matter what you care to call them. It takes much more than 2 years to get a breed accepted more like 20 years of breeding to type & it took over 60 years for the Cesky Terrier to be accepted by the KC !

What health tests do you do on your dogs ? I would expect hip & elbow scoring & heart testing as a minimum, but there are no Victorian Bulldogs listed as having been scored on the BVA site. After 25 years of "development"starting now is a wee bit late !

So from 2010 you are going to implement health screening but not make it compulsory for your members.

What about all the dogs and their off springs in generations gone by, that will have passed on health problems..

Considering you are proclaiming the VB to be far superior in health to the KC registered Bulldog, one wonders why it has taken so long for this scheme to be brought into play.

I also notice its mentioned about Cesareans sections on your bred club site, and the bitches only being allowed to have 2

Surely one of enough, and considering this is one of the reasons you blast the Bulldog for, it seems a little hypercritical when the VB is also plagued by the same problems concerning whelping..


I would have thought with such a Small following of enthusiasts for a breed, health screening would be compulsory , not voluntary ..to ensure your breed forward with good health.

the testing is a route i,m taking through a lot of debates on
All my dogs have self whelped no problems
c-section was put in place because complications can happen in birth and we believe NO bitch should go through more than 2 c-sections although KC bitches can have many more,Vb bitches are structurally sound to self whelp
The VB is a fitter more athletic type to the KC,I own both breeds so can make comparisons and my KC is in the higher end scale for fit bulldogs

Which of your dogs is this ? It was done in 2003 & TBH the score sheet isn't completed correctly as there are supposed to be 0s where there is no displasia

I would be concerned that there was so much Subluxation & that the Cranial Acetabular edge was scored as well.

It's not just the overall total score that has to be considered(unless the dog scores a total of 0 )but each individual area & efforts made to breed to a dog that does not have dysplasia in the same areas

Has the dog this bitch was mated to got a similar score in the same areas ?

This was NOT my breeding i took bitch on when a year old and the answer to your question is NO.Last few years outcrossing litters have been the thing to widen gene pool.
If you are going to pull the breeding program please understand the facts of breeding first,this is not an inbreeding,but a linebreeding,really is easy when you practice what you preach..lol

Inbreeding is a direct breeding not seperated by one generation.ie. mother/son, father/daughter, brother/sister
Linebreeding is a term when one common ancestor is bred in pedigree mainly breeders will use an excellent example of the breed to strengthen up on certain characteristics.
