What other wolf crosses have their been Discussions

Good question. And one I gave much thought to myself a few years ago.

The Reason for the change of name to "British Utonagan" was so that we could start afresh. Meaning that our records have started last year 2008 for the British Utonagan, hence ALL the founders are in BUA and will remain so. In 5 - 10 (probably nearer 10) years time all our records will go back to 2008, all concise and all BUA dogs, meaning we can have the full history of our dogs, health, pedigrees, matings etc. No dogs in this registry will be on any other registry. The background of all the dogs used as founders ie pedigree/breed type/health tests will also be kept for reference purposes.

I understand where your coming from but do you think the kc will understand as well given the similarities in the dogs looks as you are all going for the same type of look.
Although i must say i find the NI to be looking more and more husky'ish looking of late.

Hopefully by then there will be a definate type and different look, I dont see why there couldnt be more than one type anyway as there are in other dogs... It will be up to the powers that be at the time..

Could you be so kind as to post a photo of a dog who's look you are aiming for. When i think of Ute's i think of Linda and Brandykins Loki's.
Are you aiming more for the black bitch pictured above as when i compare the black bitch (sorry don't know her name) against Linda and Brandykins dogs i see no similarity.

Yes, he does, there are a lot of "breeds" crosses with very similar looks right now, it really is such a shame everyone didnt stick together from the start or we all could have had a bloody good gene pool

Its going to take a while for conformed type, but the way we are talking and going I really think it is going to be really good, we are all working to improve the look, there are a lot of changes needed, but in between there are also some really good pups coming.. I find all this side of it facsinating finding the right pairs to creat what you can to improve it... but Im an anorak with this kind of thing been doing it for years.. , ps when I say we all I meant all the breeders and members in BUA, just to clarify..;-)

Sorry Loraine, I would of thought you would know a bit more about the breeders you were claiming to be "ethical" as a secretary of an organisation, its not very clever to "reccommend" folk who's names you dont even know Ill not look them up as obviously you are not familiar with them, so Ill not worry. I dont mean that rudely, I just dont want to follow up if you dont really know them.

Yes i agree it is sad about all the splits. I understand you are working to improve the look and note you said there are some really good pups coming through, i really just wanted to know what you class as a good looking pup and what your prefered look is for the future if you don't have it now. Photo's would be good

These are just examples me personally have picked. what needs worked on (and is being done so over the next few years is, coat, bearing in mind the inside dog coat will be like a summer coat and outside dogs have a lot better coat, we still need to improve on it and not too much feathering like Loki, even though he is a stunning dog, we need better tails re |GSD,

There are various colours and types within the timber/grey wolf, all breeders have an idea what they like, in the main we hope to produce all 3 variations, but also have more of a type than there obviously will be in the wild wolf.

Dawn your insistant rude behaviour really doesnt bother me at all, if you read my post I didnt say they were all in BUA, I do know they do all theyre tests though and I do know they are ethical...what is your point. If I was acting as secretary to BUA I would simply point out here are BUA Accredited breeders, here are independant breeders, both of which health check their stock. All enquirers are told what they should look for in a breeder wether they registered with us or not?!

Just face it....we are all ethical breeders

edited to add I do know them I keep in touch with half of them, wether they feel the need to add their own surnames and unfairly justify their ambitions in life to the likes of your oh so condescending self is their own business, I only mentioned who I did to satisfy the people who feel the need to say otherwise.

Thank you for posting the pics. Now to me the dogs shown - first three i would have said were NI and the fourth a Ute but i'm saying that likely due to the coat on the fourth which you want to get away from so if you take away the coat you get an NI (if you see what i mean)
This is what is confusing to us pet owners, how do you tell the difference between the two, especially if you are aiming for the NI look in the future as you can never realistically get a dog to look like a wolf without adding a wolf. Hope you understand my point here?

Now don't be offended, if i took my last collie (Lia) and bred her to a GSD this is exactly what her pups would have looked like (imo) No-one is saying she's not a beautiful dog so the throwing to the lions is a bit uncalled for :-(

I cant understand why find me asking for surnames as a problem, you yourself wont accept anything anyone says without "proof" yet you cant even provide a surname for a breeder you are claiming to be ethical and listing them on a public forum!!
