Lovely dogs Tazer, I have had the pleasure of owning both blacks and yellows but my fave is the blacks. They always look as if you have polished them.
Lol, out of the 2 black ones, Nyle's the shinyest. Storm being dark chocolate, just doesn't have that pollished finish lol. Never had a yellow one. A lady who lived in my street used to, I used to go and take it for walks with her when I was about 5, and help look after it, and the lab x flat coat she rescued to. That was before we got hour first 1.
It`s just that you said you had a GSP whose pedigree showed bad inbreeding. So you bred from her then?
Dogs are NOT judged under KC rules they are judged under your breed society rules. There is no KC breed standard so they can't be judged under it. The people entering the show of course know it is a show for their own cross bred same type dogs but the people coming to buy pups or looking at sites and trying to research don't know that----only if they have had dogs and shown before will they understand the difference. Sorry---I missed why you want the dogs to be KC registered---could you explain again please. Thanks rune
Hi Becky, Ok- with regards the bold type. Massive swathing generalisation on a rather large group of people all of whom presumeably have completely different lifestyles, histories etc etc etc. I still dont "get" the whole reason your upset by people calling their dogs "special". Nowhere have I said my dogs are better than anyone elses-infact I have refuted this numerous times. Any "inference" here is on your part. If you call your dogs "special" it puts me neither up nor down as I have no doubt they are "special" to you and that your care, love and attention to them is second to none. It just seems like you have a prejudice to me- I cant draw any other conclusion. With regards the rest of your post. My Vet, for one, doesnt agree with you on the health and longevity of pedigrees vs crossbreeds. Neither do the Insurance companies. To say that people who own crossbreeds are less likely to take their dogs to the Vets. Well, in the end we all generally have to take our dogs to the Vets for their final passage unless they pass in their sleep:-( Therefore- the statistics on longevity cannot be described as innacurate. Ok we can discuss anatomical errors but the bottom line is the KC club of great Britain allows these animals to be registered and accepts money for the privelage. Whether people are "members" or not makes no difference- they are still putting money into an organisation which is implicit in the DELIBERATE breeding of health defects. Now- we are all hypocrites in one way or another in life-thats reality- no big deal. But it seems the vehemence with which some people, including yourself have a go at a "group of people" compared to the seedy world of breeding in and around our illustrious KC doesnt really marry up. Everyone could change things from the inside but chooses not to-why? Politics-pure and simple. Im sorry but people bragging about having a KC registered dog doesnt carry any weight these days. The organisation is corrupt- as exposed by the BBC. It doesnt make people "bad" either but maybe they should be a little less "vehement" in their criticism of crossbreeds given the mess of pedigrees in rule Britannia!!
Hi Tazer, I am concerned you may have stolen a pic (second one) of my second lab "styx"- looks very similar Lovely dogs- I particularly like the first pic which seems to show labs being labs No doubt afterwards there was much truffling about in the undergrowth! Kalluk seems to be going through a bit of a "daddys boy" stage at the moment and I seem to be unable to go 5 mins without his nose appearing directly beside me! He sits under the table warming my feet as I type
With regards the bold type- How exactly do we get to new breeds without crossbreeding? Immaculate conception?
Hi Borderdawn, Perhaps you missed the above post? Can you please explain it to me as im confused
What happened after that pic was. Storm decided he didn't want to play any more, but Nyle was having non of it, and kept wacking Storm in the face with the now destroyed football, until he chaced him. We were gardening at the time, and Shadow was very happy when he managed to swipe one of the plastic pots you get new plants in. So not much truffling I'm afraid. We can't do anything here without at least 1 of them sticking their nose in to see whats going on. [/IMG]
Hi Borderdawn, Perhaps you missed the above post? Can you please explain it to me as im confused
YES please do I am eagerly anticipating THIS answer ;-)
Rune is it EVER stated anywhere AT ALL "wolfalike Kennel Club Show"??? Crufts qualifier??? or any other conotation, you are being pedantic There are specific rules for the care and exhibiting of dogs that are written by the KC, all exhibitors at our shows are asked to abide by these We have had a few KC licensed companion shows, but they have told us we dont have to license our shows if we dont want to....as they are unercognised! I shall put it in baby language for you: We hold breed shows (I say breed as the classes are for Utonagan/British Utonagan only ) We ask exhibitors to abide by KC rules and regulations re exhibiting We award the same as any other dog show would.... The dogs are judged against the breed standard written by the Breed club So again I ask what do you find so hard to understand here?? ALL new breeds start off like this as you have pointed out until they are recognised they cannot compete in a KC breed show, until of course they are put onto the impot register, once we have enough clear lines....the KC actually asks for show results etc from a new breed .... hence I would assume they have no problem at all about people having the audacity to show dogs not yet on their register! Oh and I never answered what makes me think it will be 5-10 years, going on the stipulations equired to gain KC recognition it will take about 5 years before we can apply, and I would say 10 years giving the time to be properly established. We have everything in place that is required and it is just a matter of taking time to carefully choose the correct lines, clear out any problems that arise, and have a full concise record of all dogs and owners. It is not a figure off the top of my head, we are quite intelligent you know, and have been in the dog game for a long time...some of us actually know what we are doing
Can I have their surnames pleaee, only Im not familiar with them on a first name basis. thanks. Well done on the name calling, tis very smart of you. (10 extra brownie points for you!)
I thought we were on first name terms now? Anyhow, I did miss it yes. My point is that with the Wolfdog crosses, thats exactly what they are, there is no evidence that a "breed" is to be established, likewise with all the other "types" Jon, NI, BI, Ute etc.. ALL of these animals with the exception of the CsV and Saarloos crosses contain the same animals, and even the WD crosses have Inuit in them too, so I cant see any attempt to make a breed, just producing a lot of puppies to sell. You are correct, crossbreeding will establish a breed, but its stuck to like glue, all records kept and rules adhered to, this is also what sadly lacks in the NI types.
Dawn, Sorry- I forgot myself there regarding your first name and thought we were still scrapping I will accept that you are trying to make this point- perhaps be a bit clearer with your posts in future- I was getting ready for a new form of "magical" IVF treatment to be revealed. Have you seen the telly programme "come dine with me"? Ive been thinking that yourself, me, Louise, Gnasher and a few others should think about entering the show!! Make for interesting telly- perhaps Azz could take some commission and make a little more cash out of "the banter"?
<<<It is not a figure off the top of my head, we are quite intelligent you know, and have been in the dog game for a long time...some of us actually know what we are doing>>> Time for another 'hmmmm' I think. You are nothing to do with the KC and don't run shows under their rules----you just ask that the people entering stick to KC rules----which presumably you crib wholesale and put on your schedules. Fine, but don't call it running a show under KC rules because you know and I know that you are nothing to do with the KC. Found out why you want the KC to rule you----because you want the rows to stop.Suppose the NI or BI is chosen by the KC. Will that stop the splits, will you be prepared to all call yourselves whatever is chosen? Looking at the posts on here and reading some of the stuff that is around on the web I very much doubt it. This one will run and run, which is entertaining in some ways and sad in others. rune
I have just seen an advert for one for £300. Not sure how old she but the ad says she is getting bullied by the owners other dog. I hope she finds a decent home for her.
Rune, I have no idea what your on about here as Im not in with any crowd in particular. As a "new member" though it confuses me that you seem to "know so many people" and have such vested interests. Its almost as if you have a "prejudice"? Im still waiting to here your explanation as to why you dont wish to meet people/ dogs before forming an opinion? Im sorry youve seen a CSV/X in rescue. Hopefully this will not be the norm but as the breeders I have met take dogs back- more often than not this will not be the case. Im still waiting for you to provide some positive feedback on these actions at least? Now, back to the banter- where's KC Jac gone? Things are getting a bit boring- I think we need a bit of libellous slander to spice things up
