They do look quite sad. Then, I'd probably be sad if I had an owner who thought that was a good idea.
Finding it hard to get my head round some of the sentiments expressed in this thread. First off I love the look of the NI's and associated 'breeds' and I will probably get one eventually-----by the time I want one there should be plenty in rescue. We've had 3 that I know of in the last year or so. Second I find it mind boggling that someone 'boasts' that their dogs are different and special and cites as an example of that the fact that they have attention paid to them when they are out. I can't walk far down a street without being stopped with my BC----because of his colour. That doesn't make him special and wonderful----what he is makes him that. He is as special, wonderful and different in my eyes as any 'wolf look alike' will be. Thirdly there seems to be a huge amount of hype around these dogs, generated no doubt by people who want new owners to feel they have something special---after all if you are going to pay that amount of money for what is basically a mongrel you need that hype. The whole thing is ridiculous! rune
lol Thank you for this thread its kept the boredom away for atleast 20 mins I'm sorry but this is a truely funny thread, I have been a member on here for a while now about a year or so and it always amazes me how one person can start a thread askin a simple run of the mill question and then all the barrers come down with all the crossbred owners Do u actually realise that this thread is not about your specific breed or even your dogs it started as a question asking about other wolf crosses and decended quite rapidly into chaos Unless someone slags u or your dog off directly i.e by name please keep your knickers on, oh no actually dont it keeps me entertained before bed
Hi Jem. I'm sure I've pointed out on a couple of occations that this thread isn't about swh, cwd or gsd's, but like I've also said, unsuprisingly, thats what we've ended up talking about.
Thanks i`m very proud of my girl Sakari, and her breed as she is the first inuit to become a SAR dog, but she won`t be the last Ace is doing very well picking it up very quickley Mandy
Yeah, whatever you say dear, I believe you. Its taken me ages to realise who you mean, and I now think you mean Ronnie Winder? I feel better now, but sorry to dissappoint you, I have never had anything to do with him, other than to ask him whether the court case relating to Corrie Keizer was true or not, the thread was on here too Jon if you look, I did email him at the same time to confirm it,which he did, I have had no reason nor wish to contact him since. This is who you mean isnt it? You are way off track Jon, way off, thing is Ive been looking into these dogs for over 3yrs now, its amazing what you find out as being the truth, like the hip score you keep avoiding! Can I ask you once more, do you think its responsible of a breeder to breed several litters from a bitch with a hip score of 40 or more? Lets just say its not a CsV for a moment, say its a Labrador How do you feel? You want me to say Andre Tanner is a puppy farmer, well if mass producing puppies to supply the pet market is puppy farming, then yes thats what she does. Unless Im mistaken, she breeds numerous litters of puppies purely to sell, correct? ETA. The CsV with the high hip score was bred by Paul Winder I believe too.
Sorry maybe i'm missing something here, please correct me if i'm wrong Gnasher but it sounds like you are saying Tai is a wolf cross. If he is could you please tell me who his parents or breeder are and if not what dogs is he a cross of? Thanks
I agree Jem...I was wondering why this thread wasn't closed 100 posts or more ago....most of it is just repeating angry posts at one another
As are each and every one of my dogs, regardless of breed. Blowing my own trumpet here but I have yet to find another breeder who raises their puppies better than me. I have always found my puppies to be plumper, healthier and more active than any other litter I've ever visited. Now I KNOW there are other breeders who do the same as me so I wouldn't turn round and say that I am the ONLY one that does it as your post implies that your breeder of your dog is the only one that breeds well! Agree although there is usually implied poor husbandry associated with mass producers. Have you even considered that people approach you because they don't know what it is rather than they think your dog is special? Last quote backs up what we say, you really do believe you have something better than the rest of us. And now you can you seem quite willing to BRAG that your dog is part wolf. So to me you have purchased this animal for ego boosting rather than anything else. That is so very sad and it looks like the poor animals are kept as wild wolves in appalling conditions. :-( Becky
Those poodle wolf crosses just look appallingly sad---why on earth would anyone do that? The other thing I have noticed in this thread and by looking round the various wolf look alike sites, is that they push the wolf look big time and they very often have aquired several dogs very quickly and use all of them for breeding. One site advertised a neutered CWD for £1,000----can't remember the age but about 2 I think. Obviously they love their dogs a lot to get rid of one they can't breed from----and at such a give away price too! Please no one say they want a better home and quality of life for this dog---if that is the case they shouldn't have got it in the first place. rune
enough pedigree dogs to know that my cross breed is the healthiest and best proprtioned dog i have ever owned, other than a border collie which was also sound in every way. the aftercare is obviously anything, anything at all, phoning for advice to sharing stories. meeting up and going for walks with other people who understand the breed. whatever after care you want basically. taking one back as you say, well if unfortunately you have to do this then thank goodness they are there to take the dog back as they are the people who have the knowledge of the breed and will stop them going to resue. i have heard of inuits being taken to rescue but as yet no wolfdogs. i dont know why it worries you so much about this breed going back to breeder. what is it specifically. the after care i receive is great for my wolfdog. the afetrcare i didnt receive for my pedigree dogs isnt. doesnt mean that all pedigree breeders are like that but im just saying this is how it has been. so again i ahve nothing but admiration for the breeder of my dogs.
Looks like your pedigree dog breeder is not the best then eh, should always do your homework first! I like your description of your dog
ok Yes it should be a great match. Have you settled on a breed or crossbreed which takes your interest? Feel free to ask any of the owners here who have real experience of the breeds. I have owned 2 3/4 bred Saarloos/NI crosses for around 8 months. 1 is 6months, 1 a year old. If theres anything youd like to ask regarding my limited experiences of behaviour/temperament etc feel free to pm me. It is unlikely we would be able to discuss these details on the forum without me being attacked in some way by the "usual suspects". cheery Jon
Thank you and no I haven't. I have however found what I don't want from the breeders. Thats the beauty of the internet and learning to read through the lines. I'll be interested to see how yours mature, they are babies at the moment. I expect in the end I will have a rescue one, that is what usually happens! rune
