I am neither a hippy, stupid or new age! But the unfortunate reputation is an all too common one unfortunately ... ! It is an unfortunate bi-product of being a wolfy dog lover Razcox, as you say ! Yet I am passionately committed to my wolfy breeds, once bitten for ever bitten, metaphorically speaking !!
I think Louise you should be carefull who you are calling idiots, I`m no idiot and i have 2 wolf looking dogs
HI, Are GSDs now considered wolfy looking dogs? I didn't realise. I wouldn't say any of mine look like wolves in any way, shape or form. They're lovely with great temperaments - also the biggest wimps on earth!! If you all in love with a breed and choose to sped your life with those dogs then that's fine. But those people who buy "designer" crossbreeds and pay a fortune just so they can have the latest fashion accessory (maybe a bit harsh) definitely ARE stupid. They don't do their research or care about the breed of the dog, temperaments, possible health problerms etc. They just think it looks cool tohave a certain breed. Don't get me wrong - Zane makes me look VERY cool. But I don't show off about having dogs (well maybe alittle bit!0 ;-) Laura xx
No ! Not wolfy looking, they ARE actual wolf crosses. Back in the 1920's, von Stephanitz's famous dog Horund, latterly known as Hektor, whose name I believe I am right in saying appears in all the pedigree GSD lines today, was a wolf cross. His mother I think it was was a female wolf in Berlin Zoo and was one of 3 wolves used by von Stephanitz to reduce the aggression that he was growing increasingly alarmed about in his shepherd dogs.
Unfortunately there are some people that have to have whats in fashion and this is not limited to wolfy breeds but across the board with pets and even babies now. And there are people happy to met the demand regardless of the cost to the animals.
With me Razcox, it was absolutely nothing to do with fashion, or anything else. I just knew that a wolf cross was right for me and, as the saying goes, I have never looked back ! I couldn't care a jot or a fig for fashion or otherwise, I just know what I like. It was a totally random happening as far as I was concerned. I wasn't "looking", I just saw ... and fell in love, and was hooked and the rest, as they say, is history!
I'm happy that Lupa is one of a kind out here I don't have to worry about people giving me the same attitude they give "---"doodle...and the attitude that some of you guys get over there for NIDs, Utes, and other wolf doggies...They just lavish attention on her and pretend like they have heard of a Northern Inuit Dog before I think they get NID confused with the North American Indian Dog that comes to our park, or they just don't realize that they are different. for me it was love at first Shunka picture ...I had already been researching other Northern-looking breeds to find a possible friend for Ami, and I stumbled backwards into NIDs...now I have a very happy little girl sleeping at my feet and a very happy Ami who has a 24 hour doggy playmate
I don't believe that for one moment, no sensible person would want any partially wild animal as a pet. That's like me saying I'm getting a leopard and keep it like a cat! With regards to Lunakitty's comments about the grief given concerning NID's etc then this has absolutely nothing to do with the dogs and everything to do with the lies told about them and THAT is what people take issue with not the dogs, same applies to the doodles, it's the lies that are told. If I started a 'legend' about poodles and 'spread the word' there will be someone out there that would believe what is written but it would be morally and ethically reprehensible to do something like that. If I started a new breed it would be done completely openly with full records and I wouldn't make up some silly story about how they came to be. I'd tell everyone it came to be because I put x dog to y bitch! Becky
LOL, With me either in case you didnt notice i have an NI! I wasn't saying you were one of these people just that they do exsist (sp?)
No the cap doesn`t fit, and what is your problem, you seem to have issues with me, and certain other people on here, how sad that you can`t come up with anything orginal.
Claire and Daisy, Thats a bit unfair and there is no "gang". If you research the Deutsche "Schafferhund" studbook you will see that recent wolf content is fact and not fiction in GSDs. Quite expensive though- I reckon a copy is about £250 or thereabouts
I don`t need to spend money to `prove` I`ve got a dog with wolf ancestry. All dogs have wolf ancestry. I love my dog for being a dog. She`s wonderful. And all dog.
Where have I got issues with you?? I never mentioned you anywhere or anyone else for that matter and what have I come up with? original or otherwise? I answered the op plain and simple Considering you have a British Inuit I would'nt have thought you would have fallen into the OP's category anyway..unless you thought you were buying a wolf cross????
Interesting input. There has been a thread or two about GSDs and their 'possible past' wolf content .
Recent? I thought it was about 70 yrs ago? Thats not recent, considering you can completely change a dogs appearance, coat length, colour, skull shape and character in as little as a few generations, permanently.
Yes i do own a B.I and i also own a inuit x wolfdog who is a pup and is proving to be doing very well in her training, i knew what i was buying in both cases, in fact the wolfdog was given to me to train and keep as she was a rehome, she had fallen into the wrong hands but is a great dog. I just feel louise thet everytime i post you always have something nasty to say. like i have said i`m not stupid or am anyones fool. i enjoy all four of my dogs i own them for pleasure not as a breeder or a follower of fashion. as if i followed dog fashion i would own a whole house full of different breeds. so can we please at least try to be pleasent and use this forum for what is it meant to be, for genuine inquires regarding dogs and not to slag people off for what they own, and are proud of them just like i am of mine. As each and everyone of us choose the type of dog we own because we like the look, temperment, colour etc of that breed. Mandy
You were the one who posted and named me!!! I posted first and you jumped on me Can you show me where I was unpleasant please?? Even the "if the cap fits" post had a LOL with it!!!! Get over yourself I was posting in direct answer to the op..nothing to do with your or your dogs..I didn't even KNOW you owned anything vaguely supposedly wolfy as your thing only says British Inuit..so you are clearly taking things personally
