Can anyone help me find a breeder in my area? I live in West Yorkshire but I'm not having any success in finding a breeder online....:-(
Is this for a puppy for yourself ? I thought you were getting a Labrador Retriever puppy ? There are lots of Border Collie breeders here in the north. What are you going to do with a Border Collie(show, work etc)
How far would you be willing to travel as I know of a lot of extremely good BC breeders but they're based in North Wales?
Google Barbara Sykes and then look on her websites for suggestions. She may even have some puppies in rescue
What are you wanting to do with your pup (sheep/agility/active pet/show etc)? Do you want a show, work or sport bred pup. I agree that Barbara Sykes is definitely worth contacting www.bordercollies.co.uk
i went to a BS seminar and apart from the fact that she is brilliant with BC's she knows a lot about bloodlines etc. Well worth seeking her advice and subscribing too her magazine as well.
HI there, Have a look at www.bordercollieclub.com which is the website for the Border Collie Club of Great Britain. If you look under links you will find a lot of breeders listed and their websites. When I bought my last BC, I visited several breeders before I decided on one I was happiest with. I made sure that I met as many of the dogs they owned as possible so that I could gauge the temperament of their lines etc... I then arranged to go and view the next litter they had. It took me about a year to decide, but I am very happy that I did so, as my little girl is super and can lend her paw to anything ! If you join the BCCof GB they publish a Year Book every year (and you can purchase online previous ones) if you get yourself a copy of this then most of the show breeders are listed in here. If you want any further help or info, feel free to send me a IM and I will help you with anything I can. Kind regards
If you want/must have a show dog then the BCCGB is worth a look at. However you do need to be aware that some BC show lines are not as good as they should be. Also what sort of Border Collie do you want? If you go for a "show standard" then it will be, by definition, pretty stereotype whereas there are some really great BC's out there that are not "breed Standard" (how I HATE that description for a BC).
