Are sled dogs, in whatever form, be it Sibe, Mal, Canadian Eskimo dog, Eurohound e.t.c e.t.c hipscored before being bred from?
YES they are..or at least they should be.. Most working people will have their dogs hipscored before they work them..just to be safe..(whether they plan to breed them or not)
Yes, Sibes should have Hips and eyes (yearly) tested before being bred. Im not sure on the other breeds.
here you go you can check the others yourself http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/1100/abshealthreqs.pdf Gemma x
Unfortunately that list is far from comprehensive, they don't even list Greenland Dogs or CED's. All sled dog breeds should definately be hip scored prior to breeding.
Just having the dogs scored is not enough, the score should be within the approved range for whichever breed before you consider breeding. Obviously breeding a dog that is way above the average is still not good enough even though the owners have hip tested it.
