Hello, I’m Carolyn Edlind and I’m thrilled to learn more about dogs!! I’ve had 8 Weimaraners since I was 11 years old and they’re my favorite breed.

ln the first post is a vet I think and he has a Berner with 2 bad cruciates. I wanted to respond to his post. Not sure he's still on here but:

The US has had Berniers with average lifespan of 6 yrs so breeders waited until both parents were over 8 yrs old to improve their lifespan. This has finally been almost fixed but cancer runs in their lines.
So I fail to see why a vet would breed a dog with 2 cruciates that needed surgery. This is not healthy and breeding with surgery issues shouldn't continue. You'd be passing along the bad cruciate to buyers and it's expensive surgery. That's irresponsible breeding instead of gaining longer life you jeopardize that with other expensive issues.
